BJP’s Agnimitra Paul slams West Bengal govt. over Muslim shops making Jagannath temple Prasad

Kolkata (West Bengal), June 25, 2025 (ANI): BJP Leader Agnimitra Paul slammed Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government over Muslim shops making Jagannath temple Prasad. "There is no controversy. All that we are saying is that it should not be called Prasad. Because Prasad is something which is offered to God, and then we consume it. If something is being distributed from a ration shop, it is not Prasad... They should say that they are distributing sweets along with the ration. They are hurting the Hindu sentiments by calling it Prasad. Muslim shopkeepers are preparing these sweets. They should call them sweets and distribute, we have no issue... What is 'Halal mithai'? A Halal Mithai cannot be Lord Jagannath's Prasad... There is only one Jagannath Dham, which is in Puri. Digha's Jagannath Cultural Centre only distributes sweets, not Lord Jagannath's MahaPrasad", She said in a statement.
