00:20now starting july 1st 2025 that is this year diesel vehicles over 10 years and petrol vehicles

00:31over 15 years will not be allowed to refuel at any fuel station in delhi no matter which state the

00:37vehicle is registered in the commission for air quality management that is the caqm has made it

00:44very clear and they have done this on this recent friday as a part of the effort to reduce air

00:50pollution in the capital now the department had earlier already said that they will be stopping

00:57selling fuels to end-of-life vehicles from july 1st and now it has been applied now these rules apply

01:04to all end-of-life vehicles not just those registered in delhi but also that are coming from outside as

01:10well into delhi mr virendra sharma a technical member of the caqm has said that people often

01:17register the vehicle outside of delhi to avoid these rules a delhi has installed automated number

01:22plate recognition system that is the anpr system at almost 500 fuel stations out of 520 the rest

01:30will be installed by the end of this month that is 30th june 2025 now what will these cameras basically

01:36do these cameras will scan the vehicle number plate to check the age of the vehicle through the vahan

01:42database app and if the vehicle is too old an alert will be sent to the control room and also inform

01:48the petrol pump so that they cannot receive any fuel now if you're caught with an old vehicle these are

01:54the things that can happen to the vehicle first of all it can be impounded or it can be sent for

01:59scrapping under the registered vehicle scrapping facility

02:02and of course fuel stations are required to deny fuel to such vehicles and if you actually argue

02:12with them or try to fight them and ignore this situation then obviously you will face legal action

02:18now from november 1st the same system will be introduced in five high traffic ncr cities such

02:24as gurugram faridabad ghaziabad gotham budnagar and sonipath all the fuel stations in all the cities must

02:31install the camera system that is the anpr camera system by october 31st this year the rest of delhi

02:39ncr has until march 31st 2026 that is next year with fuel bans starting from 1st april 2026 now if

02:50we talk a little bit about numbers now around 62 lakh old vehicles are present in delhi and out of that

02:5741 lakh vehicles are two wheelers across delhi ncr the total is around 44 lakh these older vehicles are

03:06a major source of air pollution despite earlier orders by the supreme court and the national green

03:12tribunal removal of old vehicles has been very slow now to enforce this and to make this faster

03:18hundred teams made up of traffic police and transport officials have been deployed they will

03:25use road surveillance and smart traffic system to track down such violators now this strict rule is

03:31one of the biggest steps that has been taken by delhi ncr to fight air pollution that is being caused by

03:37these vehicles so from first of july as i mentioned once again older vehicles that is diesel vehicles more
