00:00What's really cool about the Everglades is sometimes you actually can't see anything.
00:04I have no idea what I'm standing on and that is because this is what the ground's made of.
00:10It's not normal dirt, it's peat.
00:13And this is basically just decaying plant matter.
00:15It doesn't turn into like actual soil like we usually see because it's so saturated with water.
00:22So the bottom of the Everglades is typically very soft and squishy
00:26and if you take a wrong step you might sink several feet.
