More European countries begin evacuating citizens from Israel and Iran

Portugal, Romania and Serbia are among those helping their citizens to leave the region as the fighting between the Middle Eastern powers continues unabated.

00:01More countries are evacuating their nationals from Israel and Iran.
00:07The now week-long conflict has blocked much of the region's airspace,
00:11leaving people unable to leave the Middle East.
00:16On Thursday, a repatriation flight transported nearly 70 people from Israel to Portugal.
00:23Around 50 of them were Portuguese nationals.
00:28The Portuguese government this week also announced the temporary closure of its embassy in Tehran.
00:34In Serbia, 38 people arrived safely in Belgrade last night, most of whom were Serbian citizens.
00:41The country's prime minister met with the Egyptian foreign minister in Cairo on Thursday
00:46to discuss the emergency evacuation of more than 2,500 Serbian nationals stranded in Israel.
00:53In Romania, over 100 people arrived in the capital Bucharest on Friday on military transport planes from the Middle East.
01:06The Romanian Ministry of Defence sent planes after Romanian nationals requested assistance to leave the conflict zone,
01:12but did not specify which country they departed from.
