00:00Hi my name is Katie and this is Oscar and we wanted to share with you some tips
00:04on keeping pets cool in the summer. Water is one of the most important things to
00:09make sure that all pets have constant access to fresh water. Only exercise
00:14dogs in the coolest parts of the day so really early morning is best and avoid
00:18strenuous activity like chasing bulls and things like that and instead maybe
00:22find a cool area where you can do some training or use some interactive dog
00:26toys. All pets though need access to a shady cool area so guinea pigs, rabbits,
00:31cats and really make sure that you never leave any pets in the car even for a
00:36short period of time. Remember that flat-faced pets like pugs really
00:42struggle in the heat and I find it especially difficult to regulate their
00:46body temperatures so it's very important to keep a close eye on those and even
00:50when it's not too hot and they can still suffer quite significantly in the heat so
00:55keep them cool give them plenty of water and make sure that you keep all of their
00:59exercise really really light.
