00:05I reckon maybe a ladder is going to be a better way to go,

00:07because I don't really have a whole lot of room.

00:09Jess is attempting to remove a six-foot carpet python

00:13from her mum's backyard.

00:14Yeah, if this snake's going to keep coming towards you like that

00:17and, you know, potentially defend itself and bite you in the face,

00:20you may have to go a gentle head grab if you can.

00:23I don't thoroughly enjoy a head grab.

00:25Well, you might have to.

00:26But you're right, like I'm fully in your strike zone right now.

00:30Alright, we'll go grab the ladder.

00:33Even though we're just dealing with a carpet python here,

00:35which are obviously harmless, no venom, anything like that,

00:37they've still got a mouth full of teeth.

00:39And Jess, she's only a small girl and she's going to be up at head height,

00:43which is not great for anybody catching a snake

00:45when the snake is at face level.

00:52I reckon Stewie, I reckon if we go over here

00:56and that way I can grab them from the back

00:58and there's a bit more open space.

00:59Oh, yeah, yeah?

01:05So you haven't really done a head grab before, hey?

01:07I prefer not to head grab if I don't have to, for sure.

01:10And I guess in this situation where it's at your face level

01:13and where it's up high, the other thing is it can happen if we start tickling it

01:18and we go to grab it, we don't want it to fall either.

01:20Yeah.

01:21Even though it's three metres, it'll survive the fall, but the fact it's got a food on its belly

01:25could do some damage.

01:26You want to hand him pretty gently too, hey, with that food item.

01:29Alright, so he's just turned back around, so he's right back at my face level,

01:35which isn't awesome, but I might just try and still grab him from the back you reckon?

01:40Still on that head?

01:42Or do you reckon just try and...

01:43Maybe try and use the hook a bit just to manipulate his head around a bit

01:47and see where he wants to go.

01:52Okay, so he's going up.

01:55Just grab him by the end.

01:57Yeah, yeah, just grab him anywhere.

02:01His face is coming back in.

02:02I'll use this to, you don't worry about the head, I've got the head.

02:06You could even come from underneath there and grab him gently behind the head.

02:10Even come underneath or just, yeah, just be careful.

02:18Nice and gentle.

02:19Slowly work your way up.

02:20Even if he brings his head back toward through your hand, you can do it that way.

02:29Alright, come down pretty quick because we don't want to...

02:32That's right, let him wrap around that one hand.

02:36Because we want to release that head grab ASAP just to make sure he's not too stressed.
