00:00The Johor Singapore Special Economic Zone offers investors a secure proposition amid growing global uncertainty,
00:09says Iskandar Investment Berhad President and CEO Itam Hashim.
00:14He said Johor's strategic location and political stability have helped it remain among Malaysia's top three destinations for foreign direct investment in recent years.
00:23The world is becoming more and more global despite the fact that there are few or many politicians all over the world who are trying to make the world smaller.
00:34Okay, but majority of us in the world, I would say, are the moderates who believe that, you know, the globalization is a key in uplifting the economy, in uplifting the quality of life.
00:52Itam said in today's uncertain political climate, the formalization of the JSSEZ had been crucial to ensuring its long-term competitiveness.
01:01I think naturally because of the location, because of the strong relationship between Malaysia and Singapore with all the nations.
01:12We are friends with everybody. So I think we are in a very good position to capitalize on this.
01:21He added that the region's relatively low operating cost made it especially appealing.
01:26The cost of doing business in Malaysia, in Johor particularly, is almost 60% cheaper than doing in Singapore and almost 30% cheaper than Kuala Lumpur.
01:40So we have the ability to help them to scale, we have the ability to reduce the cost of doing business, and we have the ability to give them the space for them to grow.
01:54The zone was formally established in January through an agreement between Malaysia and Singapore to boost economic connectivity between the state and the republic.
02:06So I'm glad we have the ability to improve that.
02:11So we are still working on business in the near future of India and this may be as a matter of incisor for us.
02:17So let us know that we are still moving forward.
