G7 leaders unveiled a new action plan to secure global supplies of critical minerals essential for clean energy, defense, and digital technology, according to Benzinga. The plan calls for public and private investments, streamlined permitting, and partnerships with mineral-rich nations to reduce dependency on “non-market policies,” a veiled reference to China’s dominance in rare earth and battery metals. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney introduced the Canada-led Critical Minerals Production Alliance and stressed the importance of mineral security to both energy and digital transitions.
