Folkestone residents react to approval of controversial harbour plans

00:00I think quite honestly you've got it. I think it's a real let down for the community. Everyone wants

00:07to have a lovely space there and this is going to be years of building site,

00:14monstrous design, it's awful. If that is what the future holds I won't want to live here

00:21and I'm sure that those people that have come down here from London and other places as well who

00:27have come down here for the open space, the beauty of the sea, don't want to come down out of a city

00:33into a city, they don't come down here for a shopping complex, they come down here to enjoy

00:39what we've got, the open space. I think this is a permanent change to the landscape of Folkestone,

00:46I don't think that's necessarily a change for the better. It is a private housing development

00:52which is not affordable to many people in Folkestone and I'm not convinced by the tourist offering,

01:03more could have been done for the tourist offering. We've got a huge heritage in the harbour area and

01:08the potential of that really hasn't been explored and tapped into which is a great shame.
