00:01Here in south-eastern France, warm weather is nothing new for the residents of Le Luc-en-Provence.
00:07Temperatures here often reach 36 degrees Celsius.
00:10But for some, it's still difficult to adjust to the soaring temperatures, especially at night.
00:16It's stifling, there's no air, even when you open everything and try to create a draft
00:21with the fan, I still can't sleep.
00:25But it's never been so hot at night here than as of late.
00:28Evening temperatures recorded 24 degrees Celsius on the weekend and 20 degrees on Monday,
00:33something experts deem a tropical night.
00:37It's always so hot, and you have to use mosquito nets, open the windows, and at the worst case, use air conditioning.
00:44Here in Le Luc, everyone has a different technique to get through the sweltering nights.
00:50I slept well as I had a fan on and the window open.
00:53We put the air conditioning on when we go to bed in the evening, two hours before to cool the room.
01:01Last night, around 2 or 3 a.m., we felt it get stuffy again.
01:05So we opened the window and managed to get through the night.
01:08The local pharmacy, used to heat spells, offers all its customers the same advice.
01:16In the morning, close the shutters and windows to keep in the cool, fresh air from the night before.
01:23Then open everything up in the evening to create a draft, drink plenty of fluids at night and during the day.
01:28And if you can, take a cold shower before bed.
01:34The town hall has contacted vulnerable residents, with air-conditioned rooms set up in case of a heat wave.
