The design of the Audi Q3 SUV

Designer Ramon Sellers Sirvent and Raúl Cano Terol present the highlights of the exterior and interior design of the new Audi Q3 SUV.

00:00This car is all about this sculpturality, but at the same time, super dynamic feeling.

00:08I think what a proper SUV has to be.

00:12What we want to have in this car is to have this feeling of roll-up car.

00:17We want that the car feels bigger and stretched, a bit more voluminous.

00:22But what we decide is, if you look at the exhibit of the car, you have this upright front,

00:28a long bonnet, and this straight and fast roof line.

00:31This makes the car feel stretched and bigger than it is.

00:36The design team we always had in mind to create a welcoming interior.

00:41We created by the high-value material that we use.

00:47The main volume of the car is created by what we call the UFO line.

00:52It's that line passing through the whole car, front and back.

00:59And it's dividing the paint volume into big areas.

01:02The area where the light is catching and the area where the shadow is hitting.

01:07And this makes the car super sleek, but at the same time sculptural.

01:11The digital stage, with our panorama display from upper class, the graphics are more simple, minimalistic and user-friendly.

01:22For the first time, Audi is integrating the shifter in the column.

01:29Now we have the possibility to bring more usability to the customer.

01:34The front basically is all about the sporty, but at the same time dominant feeling.

01:44You have the lamps, they are pretty thin, also positioned pretty high and upright.

01:51We try to create a stage for the display.

01:55Combining ambient light and market light and of new fabric-filled light,

02:02we bring to the customer function and emotional lighting in the car to emphasize the design.

02:09We have a toby that we call the flying cabin effect.

02:12It's passing through the D-pillar, so the D-pillar is the touch.

02:16And it's ending kicking up, creating the spoiler.

02:20And this together with the line that describes the walker that is going the opposite way,

02:27giving the really movement and dynamism to the car.

02:33You find this really thin and horizontal light band that is ending in these elements that are vertical.

02:42So the brake lamps are vertical.

02:44And the whole thing together makes the car feel so unique and so characterful.

02:51That I think is the highlight of the car.
