00:00Soon we will release Vibrant Visuals,
00:03and it could turn your buildings from this to this.
00:11Vibrant Visuals is a new way to experience Minecraft
00:14that aims to elevate the graphical experience.
00:17It adds things like light and fog,
00:19the shadows are cast by the sun,
00:22there's so much more contrast and liveliness in the world,
00:25and it's a lot more immersive that way.
00:30In my opinion, one of the most noticeable changes is how water looks.
00:33A lot of special time and care went into making sure
00:36our water model looked just right,
00:38and I think this shows both above the surface looking at water
00:41and when you go underneath.
00:43So on the bottom of the water, you can see these lighting refractions.
00:47These are called acoustics in real life.
00:50It's something that, you know, it's just really nice to look at,
00:53so we decided to have it in Minecraft.
00:56And we also made it pixelated just so it was consistent
00:59with the entire game.
01:00So whenever time we have, like, some kind of effect,
01:03we strive to make it pixelated.
01:06We didn't want to take away from what makes Minecraft, Minecraft.
01:10So everything we added needed to feel really natural,
01:13a natural evolution of what players were already used to.
01:17Even though you have this modern look and feel,
01:21it's also very familiar glimpses of the regular Minecraft that you know.
01:28So we had to do a lot of changes.
01:29We have built an entirely new rendering pipeline
01:32with the PBR or physical based rendering support.
01:36We have added a lot of new technical art settings,
01:41and then we have added more than 3,000 new textures.
01:48The textures, they have certain shines or emissives
01:51that we combine with the core texture that creates these effects.
01:56It basically tells how the light should behave on the texture.
02:01Before blocks, pretty much everything in the game,
02:05the only thing that really mattered was its color.
02:07But now with a more modern pipeline,
02:09players also have things to consider,
02:11like metalness, emissiveness and roughness,
02:14which might drastically impact their choice of material when building.
02:17This is the normal tough stone texture,
02:20and this is the MERS map.
02:22This is only the roughness channel.
02:25So it basically determines that there is a shine on this stone.
02:30So it has like this sort of like shinier reflectivity to it.
02:38One of the newer interesting things that we have done
02:40is adding biome settings.
02:42So every biome has their own atmosphere.
02:46Warmer biomes will look more orange and yellowish,
02:50whereas the colder biomes will trend towards blue
02:53and look more crisp.
02:54Pale Garden is a great example of how all these things
02:58sort of come together.
02:59So you get this eerie and gloomy feeling.
03:02It is very atmospheric.
03:04There is very dense and thick fog.
03:06The sky is dark.
03:07As you can see, there's like glowing eye blossoms everywhere
03:11and the creaking,
03:13and it creates this really, really intense atmosphere.
03:17I am really looking forward to see players like build new things
03:21with the atmospherics in mind,
03:23with like in different atmospheres,
03:24and of course the shadows.
03:26I think it's going to be really exciting to see what players can do with this.
03:29The thing that I'm looking forward to the most is starting a new survival world again
03:34and experiencing that first night.
03:36Just that sense of not having a house, not having a bed,
03:41frantically trying to find protection.
03:43So I'm excited to discover the game again.
03:46This is a start on this journey to modernize the look and feel of Minecraft.
03:53So we look forward to hear more feedback from the players.
03:58We're always wanting to make things better,
04:00so we're hoping to improve this over the next few years.
04:04I don't see Vibrant Visuals as a standalone release.
04:07I see it more as a new core capability of the game.
04:11We are actively working for Vibrant Visuals for Java.
04:15Right now are focusing a lot on the refactoring
04:18and making sure that we have a strong foundation
04:20that we can build upon,
04:22that the community can build upon in the future as well.
04:25And we have, throughout the last year,
04:26done a lot of performance improvements
04:28with the rendering pipeline for Java.
04:30And even in the last snapshots,
04:31we have released some of the features,
04:33like the infinite clouds and the atmospheric fog.
04:36Vibrant Visuals will soon be released to supported Bedrock devices.
04:44If your device is compatible and has the right hardware,
04:48Vibrant Visuals will be on by default.
04:51But at any time, you can always go to video settings
04:53and toggle it off and on.
04:55But don't! Keep it on!
