00:24Shrikant was born in 1991 in a small, remote village called Sitamapuram, Andhra Pradesh.

00:33His parents, farmers who made a modest living, were overjoyed at his birth but soon learned

00:39that their son was born blind. In a society that often treats physical disabilities as a burden,

00:46people around them began to pity the family. They were told that their child had no future,

00:52that he would forever remain dependent on others. But Shrikant's parents believed otherwise.

01:12However, this simple act of enrolling him in a nearby school would change the trajectory of his life.

01:18School life, however, wasn't easy. The Indian education system wasn't built for someone like Shrikant.

01:34But the child was determined. While others might have given up, Shrikant used these challenges as motivation.

01:41He absorbed every bit of knowledge he could, excelling in his studies despite the lack of resources.

01:49As he moved through school, Shrikant developed a deep love for science and math.

01:55By the time he reached high school, he wanted to pursue science at the advanced level.

02:01But once again, the system failed him.

02:04He was told that a blind student couldn't study science, he was encouraged to stick to the arts or less

02:11demanding subjects. The very system that was supposed to uplift him sought to hold him back.

02:19But Shrikant wasn't someone who accepted no for an answer.

02:23He fought against the decision, filing petitions and raising his voice against the discrimination he

02:29faced. His battle garnered attention, and eventually, the education board relented.

02:36Shrikant was allowed to sit for the science exams, and as expected, he excelled.

02:43With his brilliance undeniable, Shrikant set his sights even higher.

02:48He aspired to attend college and pursue engineering, a field typically reserved for the sighted.

02:54However, the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT, rejected him, stating that his blindness would

03:02make it impossible for him to cope with the demands of the program.

03:07Undeterred by IIT's rejection, Shrikant looked beyond India.

03:12His brilliance caught the attention of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT,

03:18one of the most prestigious universities in the world.

03:21Shrikant applied, and in a groundbreaking moment, he was accepted.

03:27He became the first international blind student at MIT. For many, this would have been the pinnacle

03:33of success, but for Shrikant, it was just the beginning. At MIT, Shrikant thrived.

03:41He immersed himself in engineering, technology, and business management, proving once again that

03:47disability is a societal construct, not a personal one. He didn't just want to learn, he wanted to

03:54bring change. He wanted to show the world that people like him, given the right opportunities,

04:00could excel and lead. After completing his education, Shrikant could have easily stayed abroad,

04:08pursued a lucrative career, and lived a comfortable life. But his vision was far bigger.

04:14He returned to India with a singular mission, to empower others like him.

04:20In 2012, Shrikant founded Bolent Industries, a company that manufactures eco-friendly,

04:27biodegradable packaging solutions. But what made his company truly special wasn't just its green

04:34mission, it was its workforce. Shrikant was determined to provide employment to people with

04:40disabilities, those who, like him, were often cast aside by society. Over 70% of the employees at

04:49Bolent Industries are disabled. By giving them a chance to work, earn, and live with dignity,

04:56Shrikant has created a company that isn't just financially successful, but also socially transformative.

05:03Under Shrikant's leadership, Bolent Industries grew rapidly. Its products, which include eco-friendly

05:11packaging and disposable tableware, attracted attention not just for their sustainability but

05:17for the inclusive workforce that produced them. The company soon caught the eye of none other than

05:23Ratan Tata, one of India's most respected industrialists. Tata personally invested in Shrikant's vision,

05:31helping Bolent Industries expand and scale to new heights. Today, Shrikant is more than just an

05:46inspiring countless others. His work has earned him numerous awards, including recognition from the
