Storms impacting central US through Father's Day weekend

00:39I see some lowering behi

00:57lightens up a little bit

00:59going to see some of the

01:00down. He's there. This

01:01storm is weakening notice

01:02there isn't really a solid

01:04base on this storm. But when

01:06this storm was firing about

01:0845 minutes ago, it did spin

01:11up a little bit of a what

01:12like to be a land spout

01:13tornado. We'll show you this

01:14video here. This I got is

01:16just shortly after I got done

01:17with the hit the last hour,

01:18just what I thought initially

01:20might have been another dust

01:21devil. This actually was

01:23beneath the base of this

01:24developing storm. I was fully

01:26zoomed in on the camera when

01:27I was taking this video, but

01:29it certainly definitely got

01:30my attention and might have

01:31been a land spout. We've seen

01:33a couple of those also in

01:35Colorado. You heard the tornado

01:36warnings there. A couple of

01:37confirmed land spouts out of

01:39that. A lot of times when these

01:40storms we talked about it last

01:41hour, fire over boundaries that

01:43kind of exist, even the faster

01:45moving ones. Sometimes it's

01:46enough if you've got a strong

01:47enough updraft to pull that

01:49circulation from the surface,

01:50attach it to the clouds. And thus

01:52you get those brief landspout

01:53tornadoes that look like glorified dust

01:55devils had one or two of those

01:56there north of the airport in

01:58Denver. And then that one

01:59here I've changed directions

02:00because you feel the wind or

02:02you hear the wind blowing

02:03right now. That is the outflow

02:04from that storm you were just

02:05looking at. But notice the

02:06towers here. There's two of

02:07them. There's the big one

02:08that's right there. And then

02:09there's one that's kind of

02:10buried back in the clouds.

02:11That's starting to show up on

02:13radar is potentially another

02:14thunderstorm that's developing.

02:15And you see how crisp that

02:17updraft is right now is that

02:20outflow. This wind pushes up

02:22and gets underneath that storm. If

02:24that can kind of stay in

02:25residence under that storm long

02:26enough, sometimes those powerful

02:28updrafts can pull some of that

02:30circulation from those

02:31boundaries up. And that's how

02:32you get those landspout

02:33tornadoes. So that I would say

02:35right now is the biggest near

02:36term threat is a lot of these

02:38storms aren't really able to

02:39sustain themselves very long.

02:41They go up, they briefly

02:42pulse. We haven't seen much in

02:44the way of severe warnings down

02:45here on I 80. In fact, the

02:46report that I made didn't even

02:48prompt a tornado warning because

02:49it was so quick again, less than a

02:50minute that was turning around

02:52there. But it's something we're

02:53going to be watching out for on

02:54those newly developing cells.

02:56Those just across the border in

02:57the Nebraska panhandle about 15

02:59miles off to my east. So I'm

03:01going to pack up here, head to

03:03the east and get underneath those

03:04storms and kind of follow along

03:06with this outflow boundary that's

03:07moving from west to east along I

03:0980. See if we can't get a couple

03:11of more of these storms to produce

03:12some of those landspouts as those

03:14updrafts continue to kind of

03:15interact with these boundaries in

03:17the area. Stronger storms up north

03:19toward the Scotts Bluff area have had

03:20severe thunderstorm warnings with

03:22them. So a lower and severe

03:24weather day, but we've already

03:25seen a couple of weak tornadoes

03:26in Colorado and here in Wyoming

03:28as well. All right, Tony

03:34going to be tracking here for

03:35some of these storms heading into
