00:00Welcome to Budapest, where new legends will rise at the OTP Bank World Judo Championships Hungary 2025.
00:07Before the competition started, the IJF held their congress at the beautiful Varket Bazar,
00:12where IJF President Mr. Marius Wieser stood for re-election unopposed
00:15and was applauded by the National Federation Presidents and General Secretaries as his election was duly ratified.
00:21At the Pap Laszlo Arena, the crowds were waiting in anticipation to watch their favourite judoka claim their red backpatches.
00:35At under 48kg, Italiza Suntaskuto claimed her place in the final with impressive judo all morning.
00:42Her second time in a world final. Could she finally take the gold?
00:46Meeting her there was Kazakhstan's Abiba Abujakinova.
00:54The Kazakh was in fantastic form, with impressive footwork throughout the day.
00:59But would that be enough to earn her the title?
01:03Heading out for the gold medal match, it was anyone's game.
01:07Nearing the end of the contest, Suntaskuto scored a yuko to lead,
01:10and soon after countered an attack, scoring Ippon to claim the world title.
01:16Two bronzes, a silver, and finally the gold.
01:20An emotional victory to complete her collection.
01:26Taishan Group Chairman and Founder and IJF Honorary Vice President Mr. Bianjili Yang awarded the medals.

01:48In the under 60 kilograms category, Romain Valadier Picard secured his first time in a world final here in Budapest.
01:57An impressive feat for the 22-year-old.
02:03But facing him was the far more experienced Ryuji Nagayama.
02:07Could his sixth attempt for the world title finally be the one?
02:10In the gold medal match, Nagayama was dominant.
02:20Two Wazari scores finally taking him to the pinnacle of the under 60 kilograms,
02:24and earning him the red backpatch at long last.
02:28A performance built on precision, patience, and years of determination.
02:32This is my sixth world championships, and I finally have a gold medal.
02:39And believe me, it feels good.
02:42China National Olympic Committee Vice President Mr. Zhu Jingqiang awarded the medals.
02:53It's been an incredible first day here in Budapest.
