He added that the incident has not harmed tourism—in fact, it has boosted it. With the police's swift action clearing Meghalaya’s name, Lyngdoh declared the state "crime-free" and emphasized that it is now seen as a safe, tourist-friendly destination, countering negative media portrayals. On Meghalaya Cabinet Decision on Raja Raghuvanshi incident Paul Lyngdoh, Meghalaya Tourism Minister said that “the cabinet today only discussed informally about our acknowledging the role of the police department, so we will have a formal ceremony where the DGP and senior officers will be invited and the government will raise them and give them, you know, words of encouragement and support. And also we will discuss about this security scenario in the state.”On the impact on the tourism sector in Meghalaya he said “Now that the name of Meghalaya has been cleared. Now that the efficiency of the police department of Meghalaya has been proven. The opposite is happening. More and more tourists are flocking to Meghalaya. it's a major boost not only in Meghalaya but about the entire Northeast because now we have proved to the rest of the world that we are crime-free, that we are not crime prone as was projected by some media houses.
