00:00He beat us and made our lives a living hell every day.
00:03This is Sylvie Yasmina, a 54-year-old French woman who was rescued from a place called Bara in Pakistan's
00:09Khyber Pakhtanwa,
00:10where her husband allegedly imprisoned her in a room for 12 years.
00:22Yasmina and her husband met in Australia, fell in love and got married in 2003.
00:26She says they moved to Pakistan in 2014 and that's when the abuse and the confinement started.
00:32Yasmina told the local police she faced daily abuse and that her husband was very violent.
00:37She told investigators she was not allowed to meet anyone and that her children were denied normal schooling and freedom.
00:43One of her sons managed to escape the house and reach a police station, after which authorities raided the family's
00:48home.
00:48Pakistan police said they found Yasmina and her five children inside a cramped, severely deteriorated room
00:54with visible bruises and other signs of abuse.
00:56The husband has been arrested and Yasmina and her children shifted to a women's shelter in Peshawar for protection.
01:02They are expected to return to France as the investigation continues.
