Police find two bodies inside Forestville granny flat, investigated as alleged murder-suicide

The bodies of a man and woman have been discovered in a granny flat in Sydney's Northern Beaches. The deaths are being investigated as an alleged murder-suicide, police sources have told the ABC.

00:00Emergency services were called to this address in Forestville in Sydney's

00:05northern beaches after 9.30 p.m. last night for a concern for welfare check.

00:12Now upon entering a granny flat at the back of the property police found two

00:18bodies they believed to be a man in his late 40s and a woman in her early 50s.

00:23Now that initial call of concern was made by someone who was familiar with the occupants

00:30and had actually made that call because they were concerned about the welfare of their pets.

00:35Now upon entering the granny flat situated at the back of the property police found the two bodies

00:42they've described finding them with lacerations. They say that no one had had contact with either

00:48of the two occupants since Saturday. Now earlier police spoke to the media they say

00:55they're treating the deaths as suspicious. Let's take a quick listen to what they had to say.

01:00We are treating the investigation as suspicious at this particular point in time

01:04under Strike Force Donnybrook. They have got lacerations to them. I can't give you any more

01:09details about what their cause of death or the level of injuries because it's still

01:13being processed by our crime scene. Now police have also told us that both occupants were known

01:21to New South Wales police at the time. The ABC also understands the man may have been known to police

01:28in another state. Now police have told the ABC that they're investigating this as a potential domestic

01:37violence-related murder-suicide. We also know that the two occupants of the granny flat had been renting

01:45the property and had only been there for about six months at the time but police have yet to formally

01:50identify the two.
