Did you know that one of Thailand's classic desserts has a name that literally means

Today let's rewind to the reign of King Rama I.

One day, the king suddenly craved grilled monitor lizard eggs with mangoes dean.

Yes, it was the delicacy back then.

But it was an egg-laying season, so none could be found.

Zhao Jom Van, a royal consort known for her cooking,

she mixed glutinous rice flour stuffed with the mung bean paste,

shaped it like eggs, deep-fried them, and rolled them in the sugar and salt,

mimicking the rich and savory flavor of the real thing.
