00:00Mr. Speaker, I stand here today in support of Labor leader David Huerta.
00:07The head of the SEIU California Union was arrested in Los Angeles while exercising his
00:13First Amendment rights to speech and assembly, rights that are guaranteed to all of us in
00:18the Constitution.
00:20That's what separates us from autocratic regimes around the world.
00:24The Trump administration now is going after judges, members of Congress, political opponents,
00:29students, law firms, reporters, governors, and now the leader of a powerful labor union.
00:35This is about abusing power to silence dissent.
00:39This is about generating fear to turn us against each other so we don't pay attention to this
00:44law-breaking administration.
00:46David Huerta said this after being arrested, what happened to me is not about me.
00:52This is about something much bigger.
00:54This is about how we as a community stand together and resist injustice.
00:59Hardworking people and members of our family and community are being treated like criminals.
01:04We all collectively have to object to this madness because it is not justice.
