Taiwan's military detected a total of 46 military aircraft in two separate incidents in the 24 hours ending Tuesday morning. Of these, 30 entered Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone.

00:00Taiwan is reporting a spike in nearby Chinese military activity in the past day and a half, up to noon on Tuesday.

00:08Officials say they detected a total of 46 military aircraft in two separate incidents.

00:14Of these, 30 entered Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone, or ADIZ.

00:20This zone is not Taiwan's airspace, but serves as a defensive buffer.

00:24The military only provided a map for the first incursion of 14 planes.

00:28During the same period, authorities also spotted six naval vessels and one official ship operating nearby.

00:35In response, Taiwan's military put its own forces on standby.
