Taiwan's defense ministry says it spotted 31 Chinese military aircraft and seven naval vessels operating near Taiwan during a 24-hour period leading up to Tuesday morning. Thirty aircraft entered Taiwan's air defense identification zone. The incursion comes as Taiwan's conducts its first ever test of the U.S.-made HIMARS rocket system.

00:16This area is not Taiwan's airspace, but acts as a buffer zone for defensive purposes.
00:21The military says it also spotted one official ship operating near Taiwan.
00:26The incursion comes as Taiwan conducts its annual missile tests,
00:31including the first-ever test firing of the U.S.-made HIMARS rocket system.
