00:00Well, this is an incredibly exciting announcement. It's the biggest nuclear building program

00:03in more than half a century. Sizewell sees small modular reactors where we've announced that Rolls

00:10Royce, a British company, has won the competition, nuclear fusion. Why is it necessary? For energy

00:15security, so we get off those volatile, insecure fossil fuels, good jobs, 10,000 jobs at Sizewell

00:22alone, and to tackle the climate crisis. And the only reason we're able to do this is because of

00:27the decisions the Chancellor made to be able to invest in the future of the country. So

00:33I think this is good for jobs, good for energy security, and good for tackling the climate

00:37crisis. This is about longer term, beyond 2030, and this is the right thing to do for our energy

00:44security, and it's cheaper than the other low-carbon alternatives that there are. Studies have been

00:49done on looking at this against the alternatives. This is right. You know, it's not just nuclear

00:55we're doing. We're doing onshore wind and offshore wind and solar. We need all of the low-carbon

00:59alternatives. Electricity demand is going to at least double by 2050. Nuclear has a really important

01:05role to play. The strength of Sizewell C is it replicates the design of Hinkley Point, of Hinkley

01:11Point, and there's real benefits to that. That's why it's going to be cheaper to build and faster to build

01:19as well. By replicating the design, you get real, real gains. So it's the right thing to do. It's

01:25learning the lessons of what has gone well at Hinkley Point C. It will be able to be speeded up,

01:32and I think it's the right investment for the future of the country.
