00:00Aaron Rodgers is officially joining this NFL team.
00:04After getting cut from the New York Jets, the Super Bowl champ has found a new home.
00:10Most people associate Aaron Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers,
00:14understandably so since he spent 18 seasons playing with the team,
00:18including one that ended in a Super Bowl victory in 2011.
00:22But all good things come to an end, and in 2023, the four-time MVP was traded to the New York Jets.
00:30To say the least, his tenure with the Jets wasn't great.
00:34Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon early on in his first season,
00:38and he finished his second season with an unimpressive 5-12 record.
00:43The organization fired the coach and the GM in moves to rebuild,
00:47which led to the QB getting the chop as well.
00:50For the first time in his NFL career, Rodgers found himself a free agent.
00:55After months of rumors, he officially has joined a new team,
00:58the Pittsburgh Steelers.
01:00The Steelers announced the heavily rumored acquisition in a press release,
01:04stating they had signed the legendary QB to
01:06a one-year contract pending a physical.
01:10Should Rodgers pass the physical,
01:12he's expected to hit the field as soon as Tuesday for minicamp training.
01:16Ironically, the Steelers are the team Rodgers and the Packers beat in Super Bowl XLV.
01:21It's unclear what number Rodgers will wear in Pittsburgh,
01:25but it likely won't be the number 12 he wore in Green Bay.
01:29While not officially retired, no Steeler has worn number 12 since 1983
01:33in reverence for quarterback Terry Bradshaw,
01:37not to be confused with Kerry Bradshaw.
01:39Most likely, he'll continue wearing the number 8 he wore during his two seasons with the Jets.
01:45Reactions to Rodgers' signing have been mixed.
01:48One satisfied fan tweeted,
01:50they might win a playoff game finally.
01:53On the other hand, another wasn't so optimistic.
01:56We do not want this old drama-seeking dinosaur on the team, they wrote.
02:02Rodgers has something to prove after his less-than-stellar past season with the Jets.
02:07At 41, he likely doesn't have that many seasons left.
02:11But at 47, Tom Brady keeps going in and out of retirement,
02:15so maybe Rodgers has the best years of his career ahead of him.
