00:00US President Donald Trump's order banning citizens of 12 countries from entering the United States
00:06took effect on Monday, moved the president enacted to protect the country from what he called as
00:12foreign terrorists. At Seattle Tacoma International Airport, people were seen walking out of an
00:18airport terminal just after the ban took effect.
00:23Meanwhile at Miami International Airport, at least one passenger was seen hugging loved ones
00:28on arrival, hours before the ban took place. Around that time, a flight from Cuba, one of the
00:33countries partially restricted under the order, had landed. The countries affected by the latest
00:38travel ban are Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran,
00:47Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. The entry of people from seven other countries, Burundi, Cuba, Laos,
00:55Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela, will be partially restricted.
01:02The travel ban forms part of Trump's policy to restrict immigration into the United States
01:07and is reminiscent of a similar move in his first term, when he barred travellers from
01:11seven Muslim majority nations.
