00:01Tengku Zafrul Aziz has dismissed speculation of an impending by-election in Selangor

00:06to pave the way for him to become Menteri Besar.

00:09Tengku Zafrul, who is an investment, trade and industry minister,

00:13said that no such discussions for a by-election have ever taken place

00:17and that it was never a factor in his decision to quit the party.

00:21In a statement, he said he does not support triggering by-elections without urgent necessity,

00:26as they incur costs of time and public funds.

00:30Tengku Zafrul announced his decision to resign as an UMNO member

00:34as well as from all party posts on May 30th, expressing his intention to join PKR.

00:40He also reaffirmed that his decision to leave UMNO was entirely his own and made without coercion.

00:47Speculation over his ministerial future is mounting as his final Senate term ends this year,

00:52amid talk of a cabinet reshuffle following the resignations of Rafizi Ramli and Nick Nazmi, Nick Aman.

00:59In a previous Facebook video, ex-UMNO leader Isham Jalil claimed that Selangor MB, Amiruddin Shari,

01:05would be made to vacate his Sungai Tua seat for Tengku Zafrul,

01:09who could then become MB if he wins the by-election.
