Best Buy expects its inventory of Nintendo’s new Switch 2 consoles to sell out soon after their midnight release, according to Bloomberg. Fans lined up outside stores Wednesday to pick up preordered Switch 2 consoles or try to buy launch-day inventory. Executive Jason Bonfig said the company expected to sell out all available Switch 2 consoles by midnight on Wednesday. Best Buy’s non-preorder inventory of Switch 2 consoles is very limited and restocks may take days or weeks, according to executive Jason Bonfig. Video game console sales dropped 15% to $42.8 billion last year, according to Newzoo. The Switch 2 is Nintendo’s first new console in eight years and is expected to boost retail sales with its interactive features. Bonfig said the Switch 2 launch will boost growth in Best Buy’s gaming business.
