01:07¿Cómo se vive esa etapa de la vida, que es llegar a los cincuenta años?
01:11Y, pues bueno, plasmarlo justamente en la pantalla de la mejor forma posible.
01:16La historia of first unnecessary look at what it means to be a woman later in life.
01:23So Charlotte, I think we see someone navigating this stage with humor and vulnerability.
01:30What did it mean to you to play a character who challenged the way society judged women for aging?
01:36And what do you think it is important to tell these kind of stories today?
01:40Well, I think it's very important to be telling these stories.
01:43This is why we came back to do And Just Like That, was to, you know, really be able to illuminate
01:49what women's lives are like after 50, and that life is not over, and that all kinds of different
01:55challenges and unexpected things are going to happen, and life doesn't end, you know?
02:00It's like an ongoing mystery life.
02:03This is how it is for everyone.
02:04And I love that Charlotte is continuing, and she's still her.
02:08Obviously, she's very, very much true to the essence of her that we've known for all these
02:13almost 30 years, yet you're really getting to see a deeper picture of, you know, her and
02:20what it means to have this life that she worked so hard to create with her marriage and her
02:26children, but still her friends are so important to her and supporting them in these kind of
02:31different things that have happened to them, and then obviously surprising things happen
02:35with her, as does everyone, and she has to kind of roll with that.
02:40Yeah, I think that Miranda started, things started to get shaken up in Miranda's life
02:45when, by her report, when Trump was elected and there was a Muslim ban and she saw all these
02:51lawyers flocking to JFK to help, to help fight the Muslim ban, and she went.
02:57And I think she realized, you know, she used to think of herself so much as a feminist and
03:04that any victory that she had as a woman was a victory that made the world better, not just
03:10her life better, but the world better.
03:12And then I think she came to realize that as the world is on fire with climate change and
03:18so many things happening, that actually being a corporate lawyer, corporations are a lot of
03:24things happening, and she realized, I don't want to continue to be part of the problem,
03:28I want to be part of the solution.
03:30There's something really empowering about not having a message, but do your own thing and
03:38your friends will help you along the way and you're going to learn, you know, it's all we
03:44can do.

05:17Y no es que sea a propósito que esté impuesto, sino que así como que se fue dando con el
05:22personaje y el personaje también nos dio sorpresas bonitas de lo que está buscando
05:26ahora con una identidad distinta.

05:45And how do you hope this kind of representation can inspire people who are still exploring
05:50who they are?
05:52Yeah, I mean, I think it's a wonderful part of our original show and part of the new show
05:58is that our writers have always allowed these characters to age, first of all, not trying
06:06to hide our aging, but also to change and evolve the way people do in life, which is so wonderful
06:16as actors to be able to play different things, not always the same thing.
06:20And I think that, you know, being able to show women at this age, you know, sometimes you're
06:26really in the culmination of your life that everything you've been doing is coming to
06:31fruition.
06:31And sometimes you realize you're really on the wrong path and you want to make a change
06:36before it's too late, before you're too old to enjoy it.
06:39So I think that, you know, some people are queer, right, you know, in the womb from the
06:45very first moment.
06:47And I think some people, you know, decide it's for them, you know, as a teenager or in their
06:54twenties, and for me it was in my thirties, and for Miranda it was much later, but I think
07:00that these things are, I think people, I think people evolve, and I think it's, it's, it's
07:08wonderful to, you know, have the permission from yourself to do that and not to just feel
07:14like, I'm stuck, I have to just keep doing the thing that I've always done.

08:10I love all of our characters so much and what we get to kind of portray on camera being,
08:17you know, I guess you don't think about the fact that it is not happening everywhere,

08:25But like when you do pull back and try to be objective about what we're able to do, we are
08:29so incredibly lucky to be able to tell these stories in this way with our fan base following
08:34along for so many years.
08:36It's really special.
08:38You know, to shine a light on women who were friends and see their lives and see their sex
08:42lives originally seemed like a revolutionary act, but arguably it's more of a revolutionary
08:47act to say just because you're in your 50s, even if, you know, we'll soon be in our 60s,
08:53you know, that the desires are the same for sex, for love, for connection with friends,
09:02for, you know, work that is fulfilling.
09:06And I think young people, including myself when I was young, think that when people get
09:12to a certain age, everything is all set and placid and stayed and it's just not true.
09:17It has so much energy.
09:19And what I learned is each character, you know, Miranda, Charlotte, Carrie, they're all
09:25in their own lane of energy.
09:28And so what I think is kind of great to add someone like Seema, who's a woman of color and
09:36she's a boss and her pace is completely different from everyone.
09:40I was like, oh, they, this show can handle it because there are different lanes, but
09:46you have to stick and have a lot of fun in your.
