00:11center church in sheffield the bible is a grand story it's the story of creation and the cosmos
00:18of god and his people the beginning and the end and we are invited to find our place in the story
00:25we know the end of the story it's a story that ends in a good way with ultimate victory the story
00:31concludes at the end of the book of revelation chapter 22 actually with an invitation come let
00:39anyone who is thirsty come william holman hunt was a british artist in the 1800s and he painted a
00:48beautiful vibrant painting based on an earlier chapter of the book of revelation which is
00:54displayed today in saint claus cathedral in the painting there is a large door and jesus is
01:01knocking on the door but there is no handle on that side of the door the beautiful hinges on the door
01:08indicate that it can only be opened if the resident inside chooses to open the door the other side of
01:15the door appears never to have been opened yet the painting is entitled jesus the light of the world and
01:22it is based on revelation 3 where the words of god are recorded look i stand at the door and knock
01:31and if you hear my voice and open the door i will come in and we will share a meal together as friends
01:39it is the same invitation that god is present he knocks on the door of our hearts and we may choose to
01:46open that door and meet with him
