00:00We are here with Corinne Leon at the Billboard Country Power Players Awards.
00:04Thank you so much for being here.
00:06First of all, tell me, what are you performing tonight?
00:08I'm going to perform a song that's called No Es Por Acá from my past album.
00:14That is like a kind of mix on the regular Mexican music and the soul and stuff and the country music.
00:21So it's so Corinne. You're going to love it.
00:25Well, I last talked to you at the Grand Ole Opry when you made your Opry debut.
00:29It was such an amazing performance. What do you recall about it?
00:33You know, it's like a very memorable day, one of the most emotional days of my life.
00:39Remembering what my father just, when he presented me the country music, the music of Johnny Cash and all that stuff.
00:48So it was like bringing a lot of memories back.
00:51And it was impossible not to cry over there and making this link of our Mexican culture with the country music and the American culture.
00:59So I'm so proud of that day.
01:01Well, I have to ask you about your recent collaboration with Cody Johnson.
01:06Fabulous.
01:07How did that come together?
01:08You know, it's like Cody, it's one of the best humans that I've known in the last time.
01:13And when I met him, I know we need to do a song.
01:18And he was looking for me, like, since a long time, like, to collaborate.
01:24But, you know, what happened to the music right now in this year, it helped that this came true.
01:29And we wanted to make, like, something very classic, something very romantic.
01:32But at the same time, that it feels a lot, a lot of Mexican, too, in the lyrics and all that stuff.
01:37And that's why the title is Shares Like Villa, you know.
01:41Absolutely.
01:41And there's so much connection between Latin music and country music, especially when you go back to the roots of it.
01:48Who reached out to each other first?
01:49Did he reach out to you?
01:50Did you reach out to him?
01:52It was like, it was from both.
01:55I've heard, like, you know, in the industry, with a lot of friends in common, I said, like, that guy is huge in music.
02:02And I'm a big fan of Cody Jones, so it was, it cannot be possible, you know.
02:07But then I realized that everything is possible in the past years.
02:12And we started to make connections, like, oh, say hi, say, hey, how are you doing?
02:17I'm a very big fan.
02:18And then just share, like, tequila came up, you know, like, very natural.
02:22So I'm a very, I'm very person that it has to be like that.
02:28Like, you have to be a, you have to be a friend with somebody to make a good music, a good song or good music.
02:33And this is the case, you know.
02:35Well, thank you so much for being here.
02:36I'm so excited for you to be here.
