Andrew Griffith urged the home secretary Yvette Cooper to address the problem alongside her French counterparts.

00:00Look, it's absolutely shocking that the government, in any case, has lost control.
00:04More arrivals than ever before, they dismantled unilaterally the deterrent of Rwanda,
00:11and there's clearly no plan to smash any gangs because they're coming here in record numbers.
00:16The truth is that if every one of those small boats was carrying an artwork from the Louvre,
00:22there's no question in my mind that the French police would and could and should stop them.
00:27So at the end of the day, you've ultimately got to ask, what is it that the government is spending more and more money
00:32with the French government when there are more and more arrivals on our shores?
00:37So the Home Secretary needs to be addressing that at great urgency with her French counterpart,
00:45and in the meantime, those payments should stop.
