00:00Well, the Eagles may not be done yet as today a new trade target sparked a ton of buzz across
00:06the NFL and a lot of people think the birds could be a top landing spot.
00:11So we'll talk about the fit and whether or not it makes sense.
00:14Also, we get an intriguing quote about a young Eagle superstar player and Brandon Graham
00:19sounds off on PFF for their Jalen Hurts rating.
00:23We'll get into all of it and more right here on A to Z Philly, but welcome on in to the
00:28show, I am RB and we started off with our boy, Saquon Barkley.
00:32How about the new cover of Madden 26 dropping later this summer?
00:37Dream come true as Saquon called it, man.
00:40Saquon is the first Eagle to grace a Madden cover since Donovan McNabb in 06.
00:46I do have that game and a special cover, man.
00:49I might have to get this just for Saquon.
00:51They have them hurtling on the front cover, but he also earned a spot as the first member
00:56of the coveted Madden NFL 2699 club.
01:00Saquon responds by saying, honored to be on the cover of Madden.
01:04Huge thank you to all the fans showing love and support, especially my Philly family.
01:09Hope you all enjoy the game.
01:11And like I just said, he is actually a 99 overall.
01:14So shout out to Saquon Barkley.
01:16Ladies and gentlemen, this is not a game.
01:19This is real life.
01:20And Brandon Graham talked about PFF, who yes, in real life, put Jalen Hurts as the fifth
01:28best quarterback in the league.
01:30They put him behind Pat Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson.
01:35What do you guys think about that?
01:37Is that fair?
01:38They put tier one.
01:39They put four quarterbacks in tier one and Jalen Hurts was number five, number one in tier
01:44two.
01:44I think that's ridiculous.
01:46Jalen Hurts just won the Super Bowl.
01:48Jalen Hurts took down some of the best quarterbacks, some of the pillars in his way, and they smacked
01:54everybody all season long.
01:55So what are we talking about?
01:57That boy Jalen came back and went to the Super Bowl again, where Josh Allen hasn't even sniffed
02:03it.
02:03They just like who they like, man.
02:05Hey, same thing with Lamar Jackson, right?
02:07He's choked a few times in the playoffs.
02:09You know, he's had a little bit success, but Joe Burrow didn't win that Super Bowl.
02:14Josh Allen hasn't sniffed it.
02:15And you know what?
02:17Jalen Hurts just beat Patrick Mahomes.
02:18I'm not saying he's better than Mahomes, but he did beat him.
02:21And back in 22, Hurts played one of the best games of his life and almost beat him.
02:25So where is this hate coming from?
02:27Oh, the Eagles have such a talented roster.
02:29Oh, they have this.
02:30Well, let's look at the Chiefs roster.
02:32Let's look at the Ravens roster.
02:34The Bills.
02:34You're telling me those guys don't have good teams around them.
02:36Get out of here with that.
02:38BG is spot on.
02:39Jalen Carter.
02:40Listen, ladies and gentlemen, I think Jalen Carter could be in the Hall of Fame one day.
02:44Is that an overreaction maybe for a guy that just played his second year in the league?
02:49And I know he hasn't had double-digit sacks or anything like that, but the pressure that
02:53he demands, right?
02:55The attention that is always locked in on Jalen Carter is going to make a defensive nightmare
03:01for some of these coordinators for years to come.
03:04And here's what Jeremiah Trotter said about Jalen Carter.
03:07Quote, word is on the street.
03:09He doesn't even know how to play the position yet.
03:11From guys I talked to on the inside, he doesn't even know how to play.
03:15He's just playing off of raw talent.
03:17The sky's the limit for this kid.
03:19Ladies and gentlemen, Jalen Carter is going to be so good.
03:21He's going to be so good, and he's only going to get better.
03:25He was a second-team All-Pro.
03:26He was a pro bowler.
03:27And he was so instrumental in big-time situations in the postseason and allowed the Eagles to
03:34continue to dominate on the defensive end.
03:37And it really is scary thinking about where a 24-year-old could be in 10 years.
03:41So shout out to Jalen Carter.
03:42Let me know what you think about him down below.
03:44But we have to get into a potential trade target for the Eagles.
03:48That has emerged.
03:50Last month, we talked about Michael Mayer.
03:52Eagles didn't draft the tight end.
03:54What do they do?
03:55They make things work with Dallas Goddard.
03:57They come to an agreement.
03:58They pay him $4 million less.
04:00They keep him around for this year.
04:02Dallas Goddard didn't even think that he was going to be here, but he is.
04:05And I'm very happy he is.
04:06I think he should be an Eagle lifer.
04:08Probably won't be.
04:10And that brings up the question.
04:12When another player like this becomes available, what do the Eagles do?
04:16Report coming out this weekend.
04:18Kyle Pitts is apparently available via trade.
04:22Jordan Schultz says that the Falcons would need at least a day-two pick.
04:27To consider a trade.
04:29So the Falcons are looking for a day-two pick.
04:31And they are willing to move on from a potential generational prospect at one time.
04:37Who now a lot of people think could be a bust.
04:39What do we think about Kyle Pitts?
04:42Well, here's Raheem Morris saying that they are being, quote, extremely cautious with Kyle Pitts at OTAs.
04:49Apparently, out of nowhere, they're saying that he has an injury.
04:53They're declining to comment if it's actually a foot injury.
04:56And they're not giving much substance.
04:57So what does this mean?
04:59It tells me that Kyle Pitts is on the trade block.
05:03They don't want to throw him out there.
05:04They don't want him to get hurt.
05:06Same situation that we saw with Bryce Huff.
05:08Kyle Pitts is going in to his fifth-year club option that was picked up by the team and accepted.
05:15$10.8 million.
05:16They have not given him an extension.
05:18Kyle Pitts was the fourth overall pick in the 2021 draft.
05:22He went ahead of guys like Jamar Chase and Pat Sertan and Devontae Smith even.
05:29He was a generational prospect.
05:30They were talking about him as potentially the best tight end prospect ever, right?
05:36He was the first tight end to make the Pro Bowl as a rookie since Jeremy Shockey in 2002.
05:41This guy came out of the gate running.
05:43So what the heck happened?
05:45Let's look at his stats year by year.
05:47Kyle Pitts over 1,000 yards in his rookie season.
05:51Then he had 356 yards in 10 games with two touchdowns.
05:54But he's only accumulated about 1,200 yards in these past two seasons for a total of seven touchdowns.
06:01So what happened?
06:02What happened to this guy, Kyle Pitts?
06:04And how did we get here, right?
06:06For a guy that we thought was going to be a generational talent for a long time.
06:11We're going to get into that in one second.
06:13But here is a proposed trade by USA Today that was put out.
06:18They have the Eagles as a potential landing spot.
06:21A couple others in there, right?
06:22The Commanders, Bengals, teams like that.
06:25Kyle Pitts to the Philadelphia Eagles for a third round pick in 2026.
06:31Would you do this?
06:32I'm going to give you my answer in one second.
06:33But I want you to think about that question while we talk about what really happened with this guy.
06:38How did the downturn start?
06:39Because I was going through my mind and I'm saying, how the heck did we get here?
06:43I almost forgot Kyle Pitts was in the league.
06:46Why?
06:46Why?
06:47Well, here is some reasoning behind it.
06:49Shout out to Tyler Sullivan putting this out on CBS Sports.
06:52It gives a couple explanations as to what actually happened.
06:56Number one is the 2021 NFL draft was absolutely stacked.
07:00A lot of players, like we mentioned, went high and have been really good talent so far in the NFL, getting these max contract extensions, things like that.
07:09But here's where it really gets spicy.
07:102021, the Falcons receiver room implodes.
07:15They were supposed to have Kyle Pitts, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley.
07:18And what happens?
07:19Julio Jones gets traded away.
07:21And then what happened with Calvin Ridley?
07:23Well, here we go.
07:24The duo only played five games together.
07:27Calvin Ridley announced at the end of October he would be stepping away from football due to mental health reasons.
07:34And so the whole receiver room, you're supposed to have this core, it implodes.
07:38Okay, that's number one.
07:40We know what happened with Calvin Ridley after that.
07:42Number two, his one season where he played with Matt Ryan, he had a thousand plus yards.
07:49Who did he have quarterbacking after that?
07:51He had Marcus Mariota, Desmond Ritter, and last but not least, Kirk Cousins, who all stink.
07:59He hasn't had a suitable quarterback.
08:00Now, again, I don't want to just sit here and make excuses for the guy.
08:04But Kyle Pitts has been in a very tough situation, right?
08:07To be great, you need to rely on the greatness of others.
08:10Shout out to Nick Sirianni.
08:12So a lot of quarterback instability, right?
08:15And Matt Ryan, like I said, no longer there, you know?
08:18And here, last but not least, in 2024, bad fit with a new regime.
08:24Following his 7-10 season, they fired Arthur Smith.
08:27So they bring in Raheem Morris, and they bring in former Rams pass game coordinator Zach Robinson.
08:34The new regime and new offensive system made Pitts a square peg trying to fit into a round hole.
08:40He did not run an offense that prominently featured the tight end position as a pass-catching weapon.
08:46So there we go, man.
08:48I mean, Kyle Pitts has pretty mediocre numbers.
08:52And I remember coming out of Florida, they were saying this guy could even be a potential receiver in the league.
08:57Because of how quick and how speedy and how dynamic he was, even though he's 6'6", 250.
09:03This guy can really move, right?
09:05He can catch passes.
09:06He can break tackles and run all over the field.
09:09And he really has not been in a situation that has helped him.
09:13Partly, he hasn't helped himself as well, right?
09:16He hasn't developed into that guy.
09:18But I'm looking at Kyle Pitts, who, by the way, is from Philadelphia.
09:21He went to school in Pennsylvania.
09:23I don't know this for sure, but he's probably a lifelong Eagles fan.
09:27And if you're telling me the Eagles have to give up a day-two pick, would I do it?
09:31I'd consider it.
09:32I surely would.
09:34Maybe Howie could work his magic, turn it into a fifth or a sixth-round pick, right?
09:38Because we all know if these reports are true, which it seems like there's steam building up here,
09:43they're not going to pay Kyle Pitts.
09:45So they're going to let him walk for nothing.
09:47Would they rather do that?
09:48Or would they rather settle for, let's say, a fifth or sixth-round pick?
09:51Of course, they're going to try to get something back.
09:53They realize the experiment hasn't worked.
09:56The project has not worked.
09:57And he needs a fresh start.
09:59But at the same time, you look at the Philadelphia Eagles.
10:03Yes, they bring Dallas Goddard back this year.
10:05Amazing.
10:06Wonderful.
10:06Right?
10:0730 years old.
10:08Most likely, if Dallas Goddard plays pretty good this year, he's going to get a good contract extension elsewhere.
10:15The Eagles are not going to be able to match it.
10:17And he's going to have to depart and say his goodbyes.
10:20So what better way to bring in a guy who will be ready to step into those shoes and hopefully take over,
10:26who not only has experience in the league, was once touted as a generational prospect, but also is a Philly guy.
10:33It makes so much sense.
10:35This offense features the tight end position a lot more than that offense.
10:39Surely, you know, not the number one threat or the number one option here.
10:42But I think it would do him well to play alongside better weapons like A.J. Brown and Devontae Smith.
10:49Now, on the other hand, you could say, why not just draft one next year?
10:53Why not just be patient, not give up anything, maybe try to sign him after next year?
10:57That's true.
10:58That could be an alternative.
11:00But I think if you can get this guy for a late round pick, you have to pull the trigger because his value will be there.
11:06The talent may not be on display yet, but the intangibles never go away.
11:10So those are my thoughts on this.
11:12Should the Philadelphia Eagles trade for Kyle Pitts?
11:15I think they should do everything they can to try.
11:17Give me your thoughts down below.
11:18Appreciate everybody for tapping in.
11:20Be sure to like, comment, and subscribe.
11:22And as always, I will catch you on the next one.
