00:00Yes, there's no doubt. Best question of that news conference or statement that Keir Stammer gave the Q&A afterwards.
00:10There will be those who say, don't be ridiculous.
00:13How can you possibly equate the issues around these migrants coming across the English Channel with actually the defence of the realm?
00:22You can easily do that because there is very much a national security risk in what we're seeing.
00:28Many of these young men are told by the people traffickers to throw their identification documents away.
00:37So we have no idea who the majority of these people coming to this country actually are.
00:43And we know, according to security services around Europe, that there are people who pose a risk to national security in various countries,
00:53often former ISIS fighters in Syria, who've come back into European countries, who are coming across in the likes of the small boats into the UK.
01:04And we only need to look around Europe at the moment to see all of the terrorist attacks that have been committed recently,
01:12particularly in Germany by asylum seekers and migrants, more than half a dozen in the last 10 months alone.
01:20Here in this country, we've had terrorist attacks involving asylum seekers, such as in Reading a few years back,
01:29the Liverpool Maternity Hospital, Hartlepool, there is absolutely a national security risk in what we're seeing playing out on the Channel.
01:38And we saw that in the Channel this weekend, the most incredible scenes of almost 1,200 mainly young men coming across,
01:47trying to break in to the country by circumventing our border controls.
01:51There's been a substantial degree of pushback.
