Julie Bowen reveals to THR at the 2025 Netflix Tudum event that she was shocked to be asked to come back for a 'Happy Gilmore' sequel. Plus, she reveals which new 'Happy Gilmore' cast member she was most excited to work with.

00:00So did you guys ever think you would do a sequel or was this a shock?

00:03I had heard that it was happening and I thought, well, I won't be in it.

00:07Well, and I didn't, that was okay.

00:09I was like, I don't even, Virginia Bennett, it's been 30 years, he's got a hottie.

00:13He's got some little bitty on the side, like a cart girl, you know.

00:19As a matter of fact, my children told me, before I even was told officially that there was a Happy Gilmore sequel,

00:25my now 18-year-old said, Mom, I hear they're doing a sequel and he's with Sidney Sweeney as a cart girl.

00:32And I went, I'm hurt and I so respect that move?

00:37Of course.

00:39Why wouldn't you?

00:40So when I got the call that I was actually in and I was like, are you sure?

00:45Come on.

00:46But yeah, yeah, here I am.

00:48I mean, you have Bad Bunny, you have Travis Kelsey, a bunch of golfers, a lot of additions this time.

00:52Who are you most excited by?

00:55Yeah, Benito, I call him Benito.

00:56We're really good friends.

00:58We're super tight.

00:59I mean, I worship him and I love him.

01:02I listen to his newest album over and over.

01:05It's so classic.

01:10But seeing Bad Bunny on set, I was just like, oh, I can't actually look you in the eye.

01:15I'm going to have to walk away.

01:16And I did.

01:17And then I think he was offended and I had to circle back and now I'd made it worse.

01:21But I didn't know.

01:22I was like, he doesn't want to talk to me.

01:25Does he know you're such a fan then?

01:27No.

01:28Because I was just like, oh, hey, did you change your hair?

01:31And then like ran away.

01:33I'm not cool.

01:35I'm the kind of person that doesn't want to meet her heroes because I think I'm just going to be a jackass.
