Braxton Harst still remembers the very first thing he ever made in the kitchen: a Betty Crocker box mix of chocolate chip cookies. It was about two years ago when the Sylvania, Ohio, native first felt a spark to try baking. With no one to teach him, Braxton simply dove in — learning through trial, error and a lot of persistence.

00:00I just like being a part of the kitchen and making things that everyone loves.
00:13I got into baking about one or two years ago, and the first thing I ever made was a Betty Crocker box mix of chocolate chip cookies.
00:22I kind of just learned along the way just by going for it, and then I learned from my mistakes, so I didn't really have anyone to teach me, so.
00:30We learned together. Everyone, all the comments and, like, he's had all these viral videos, and everyone's like, oh, his parents must be bakers.
00:38Like, oh, they must help him so much, and, like, I'm always like, no, I had never baked a real cake ever in my whole life.
00:45I baked my first ever cake, and I was just obsessed with it. It was a vanilla rainbow cake.
00:50We made a video of it. I think it's the first video we ever posted of his cakes, and it's, like, a six-inch, five-tier, and every color is a different color, like, color.
00:59And when you cut into it, he's, like, his, like, general, his, like, real reaction was on video, and he's like, oh, my gosh, I love it.
01:06He, like, could not believe it turned out. He couldn't believe it. It was so cute.
01:11I think the wicked cake.
01:13Yeah, that was so hard.
01:14Over the top. It was, like, a heart-shaped cake with all this, like, crazy pie-drain stuff.
01:20With a bunch of, like, wicked ingredients on the top. It was a lot.
01:24That's definitely the hardest one you've ever made.
01:26We've gotten so many requests, I mean, like, insane requests for cakes all over, and we're, like, we're, like, we're trying to figure out shipping.
01:33We're trying to figure out shipping. So that's our next thing is to try to figure out.
01:37Sometimes you have your own idea. Other times he'll look for inspiration.
01:40Like, I think he'll look through Pinterest and be, like, this, but, like, this, or this, but this color.
01:45He's dealt with a lot of bullying at school. So we actually switched his school this year to, like, a private school.
01:51And so I feel like personally he's gone through a lot of things.
01:55And so I think it's been so rewarding and so fun to see him, like, just flourish and, like, be himself and have so much fun.
02:03I think I want to be an entrepreneur in baking and own my own baking brand of business.
02:10I already do know what I think I'll call it for sure.
02:13And I would call Braxton Bakes.
02:15She, like, I have done really well for my age and I'm really glad and I feel really happy that people, like, are chewing me on a little bit.
02:23I love being active in it and, like, just being a part of the kitchen. I'm not really sure how to explain it.
02:29I just like being a part of the kitchen and making things that everyone loves.
