00:00I'd now like to yield to the gentlewoman from California, Ms. Kim, for two minutes.
00:04Thank you very much, and thank you, Mr. Speaker.
00:08Members of Congress are here to serve their constituents and the American people, not themselves.
00:15Unfortunately, we see this year after year with members of Congress making lucrative stock trades
00:20while their constituents struggle to make ends meet.
00:24We must restore public trust in this body, and that starts with each of us in this chamber.
00:32There is no reason why members of Congress should be able to trade stocks while in office, period.
00:39American taxpayers deserve better.
00:42That is why I'm proud to have helped introduce the Trust in Congress Act.
00:46This bipartisan bill would prohibit members of Congress, in addition to their spouses and children,
00:54to trade stocks while in office.
00:57This isn't rocket science.
00:59This is common sense.
01:01Let's just restore trust back in Congress.
01:04With that, I yield back.
01:06Well, I thank you very much.
