00:00The Taipei District Court has extended former Taipei Mayor Ke Wen-jie's detention by another
00:06two months in an ongoing corruption case.
00:09Ke and three other defendants will now remain in custody until August 1.
00:14The court's ruling cited the risk of the defendants colluding, adding that several
00:19witnesses in the case have yet to testify.
00:23The Taiwan People's Party, which Ke used to lead, is calling the ruling unacceptable.
00:28It says there is a lack of concrete evidence to justify extending Ke's detention.
00:33Ke has been detained since last September.
00:36He is charged with bribery related to a development project during his time as mayor, as well as
00:41mishandling political donations while running for president last year.
