00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top 10
00:13PlayStation games that have aged like fine, fine wine.
00:18Number 10, Gran Turismo series.
00:32Though former Sony executive Jim Ryan would make dismissive remarks towards the series
00:36in 2017, the Gran Turismo series has actually aged rather gracefully since its inception.
00:41Sure, one may probably find a few meticulous nitpicks in controls or visuals, though that
00:46is sort of expected when jumping across different generations of console gaming.
00:55Overall every Gran Turismo game still plays exceptionally well, with the best controls possible on each
01:00platform it's appeared on.
01:02Be it on PS1, PS2, PSP, or even PS3, you can expect an exceptionally immersive experience
01:08that might spark an interest in you in motorsports.
01:18Number 9, Fat Princess.
01:23We're not about to sit here and tell you that Fat Princess was a revolution or innovative
01:32in any way.
01:32In essence, it is a capture-the-flag style game with basic combat.
01:36However, for as simplistic as it is, it remains to be one of the most fun games PlayStation
01:40ever put out.
01:47Between the diverse classes with unique abilities to violent attitude clashing with the cutesy
01:52aesthetic, Fat Princess carries a good old-fashioned arcade feel in the endless ocean of online
01:57multiplayer shooters, and thanks to its casual gameplay, you can still pick it up and play
02:01today with no glaring problems to remind you of the benefits of modern gaming.
02:13Number 8, Patapon.
02:22Speaking of titles with fun and basic gameplay, Patapon has undoubtedly become the PSP's timeless
02:27classic with the remasters it has received.
02:29All you need to worry about is memorizing musical patterns that issue certain commands and issuing
02:34them in time with a beat.
02:43The less musically inclined may struggle here, but overall, even the most casual rhythm players
02:47can jump into Patapon thanks to this simple mechanic.
02:50Just beware that you might find the bosses to be a lot harder later on.
02:54Hey, if you liked the first game, Patapon 2 and Patapon 3 are also available on PS4 and
02:59PS5 as well.
03:10Number 7, Heavenly Sword.
03:19Not many PS3 games have withstood the test of time, and part of that is because of the
03:23poor responsiveness of the DualShock 3 controller.
03:26It really isn't that great, but in the case of Heavenly Sword, those problems are virtually
03:30non-existent.
03:31Executing combos and parrying enemies still feels immensely satisfying, more so than almost
03:36any PS3 game that came after it.
03:44On top of that, the cutscene still looks surprisingly gorgeous, with its rich detail, animation and
03:48camerawork.
03:49It's just a shame that few people ever gave Noriko the time of day.
03:53Really, if you still have a working PS3, you gotta snag yourself a copy of Heavenly Sword,
03:57as it's one of the few games boasting high visual fidelity, yet still hasn't seemed like
04:02an age to date, except for, you know, those turret sections.
04:04Number 6, Tokyo Jungle.
04:17Of all the PS3 games you could go back and play and still have a romp with, Tokyo Jungle is
04:21the one.
04:22If you look at it, you would think it would feel as archaic as it looks.
04:25The DualShock 3 really did not have the best input lag at the time, but shockingly, this
04:29was one of the most accurate and responsive games on the platform.
04:41Landing sneak attacks and killing blows as any animal feels vicious and impactful, and every
04:45character mode is detailed enough to where Tokyo Jungle manages to avoid any sort of uncanny
04:50valley feeling.
04:51So, Sony, why is this not on PS5 yet?
04:55Number 5, Katamari Damacy.
05:03Now, we know that the visuals are insane here.
05:13Really screenshot any portion of this game, and it looks like a wild fever dream of some
05:17sort.
05:18In fact, art direction is not the only thing that has kept Katamari Damacy looking timeless.
05:22Much like Patapon, there is a basic understanding in how the game works that makes so many newer
05:26titles look overly complicated.
05:28You have a ball.
05:37You roll the ball over objects that make your ball bigger.
05:40Make the ball as big as you can before time runs out.
05:42Yeah, it's easy to explain, easy to handle, easy to play, and so, so much more.
05:47All the fun stuff that we really want to see, even today.
05:55Number 4, Twisted Metal Head On.
06:03PS2 fanatics may instantly gravitate towards Twisted Metal Black, but the difficulty can
06:08be a bit absurd for some players.
06:10As for Head On, this is basically the most accessible and enjoyable title in the franchise.
06:15There's just something wonderfully arcadey about it between the level design, the music,
06:19and the secret minigames that hide on each map.
06:24On top of that, the discovery of secret areas and shortcuts give the game a ton of replay value,
06:33as they can help shape your own strategy.
06:35You just don't see that kind of malleability in modern games, y'know?
06:45Number 3, Ratchet & Clank Up Your Arsenal
06:47We tried to avoid putting shooters on this because, well, there weren't a lot of FPS games
06:59from PlayStation that hold up too well.
07:02Up Your Arsenal, while a third-person shooter excels at one aspect that makes it replayable
07:06no matter how old it gets, the gunplay.
07:08Every weapon you earn packs enough punch to make them feel satisfying when firing, and
07:22the response when firing is almost instantaneous.
07:25The platforming might take modern audiences some time to grasp with, but once you start
07:29using the weapons, it's going to be really hard to put this down.
07:39Number 2, Sly 2 Band of Thieves
07:49With the amount of open world games there are today, it's astounding how few companies
07:53have learned from Sly 2 and its open world design.
07:56While it isn't a single, seamless open world like most games to date, Sly 2 still showcased
08:00a variety of different areas, encouraging exploration by scattering bottles all over
08:04the place and giving the player tons of options of traversal.
08:07That should give Sly a short window of opportunity to climb up the power lines and overload the
08:13system from the top.
08:15Up, down, up, down.
08:17They should put an elevator in this place.
08:18It wasn't littered with waypoints or pointless collectibles, and all three playable characters
08:22handle like a dream.
08:23Ah yes, the good ol' days of basic game design.
08:26It was already too late for you, especially if your name was Cooper.

08:47Number 1, God of War 2.
08:58Even the original God of War still holds up rather well, but its biggest downside is the
09:02reason why it didn't make the list, that being the fluctuating difficulty.
09:06God of War 2, on the other hand, is almost sheer perfection in how it evolved from its exceptional
09:10predecessor.
09:19The new weapons, the massive set pieces, the colossal boss battles, the epic music, everything
09:23about this game's scale was immeasurable at the time, as few games ever match this level
09:28of immersion.
09:29And to this day, the controls and combat are as immaculate as most big-budget games we
09:33see today.
09:34Honestly, this is required reading for any self-proclaimed PlayStation fan.
09:38But your torment is just beginning.
09:50So which PlayStation game do you think still holds up today?
09:53Let us know down in the comments.
09:54We, who will not be swept aside by this petulant fool, we will stand together, and I will wipe
10:04out this plague.
10:05Olympus will prevail!
