00:00I think the biggest misconceptions about rats are that they're extremely dirty and scary

00:05and people think that they bite, but they are super awesome animals.

00:14I would like to change the misconceptions by helping people better understand

00:19how rats are and how much love they really can give.

00:23Hi there, my name is Caleb, I am 23, I'm from South Africa and I'm the owner of the Sushi Rats.

00:32I have six rats and they're all named after different pieces of sushi.

00:37So, I have sashimi, nori, unagi, blue, hamachi and sticky rice.

00:45I chose rats because they're super friendly and super cute animals and they're just like pocket puppies.

00:53So, some of the different personalities, let's start with Unagi.

01:01Unagi is her own boss, loves to do tricks for food and a sweetheart.

01:06Then we have Blue who is super lazy, loves to eat, always open to giving kisses and loves to get massaged on his back.

01:15Then we have Sticky Rice who is super playful and he always wants attention.

01:22But, with all that attention, he does get bullied the most in the cage.

01:34So, I began filming in lockdown and it really took off on Instagram and TikTok.

01:40It all started over here with this little guy named Blue, our million view rat.

01:50I think the most positive feedback I get online is that people are now open to getting rats or just not thinking that they're disgusting animals.

02:00I think they're just super cool animals and that they deserve more from this world.
