00:01Austria's former Conservative Chancellor Sebastian Kurz
00:05arriving at an appeals court in Vienna on Monday.
00:07And there was good news for him as the judges overturned last year's conviction
00:11for giving false testimony to a parliamentary committee.
00:15That verdict followed a four-month hearing
00:17and was the first time in more than 30 years that a former Austrian Chancellor had stood trial.
00:22Kurz has denied any wrongdoing.
00:53The overturning of his perjury conviction and his eight-month suspended prison sentence
00:58removed Kurz's only criminal conviction,
01:00a key obstacle to a potential political comeback.
01:04But prosecutors still have to decide whether to charge him
01:07over potential corruption-related offences
01:09in a separate investigation that forced him from office in 2021.
