Monsoon rains swamp India's financial capital Mumbai as they arrive about two weeks earlier than usual, according to weather forecasters.

Heavy rains are normally expected in the southwestern state of Maharashtra in early June. They are welcomed by farmers for their crops but wreak havoc each year in cities by flooding transport infrastructure.
