00:00Hello, I'm Nicola Payne and I'm Executive Principal at Clifedale Primary Academy.
00:05So tell me what we're doing here today.
00:07So we have a very special celebration today, which is opening our Shining Star Splash Pad.
00:16It's part of our art gallery and family picnic and everybody's come together to celebrate that opening.
00:25Okay, and what's the reaction been like to the Splash Pad?
00:27There has been such a great community response.
00:32It was over a year and a half ago that we lost our beautiful Hayden and the whole community has come together to raise funds.
00:42We wanted to remember Hayden in a really positive and joyful way because that was the kind of boy Hayden was.
00:50He always had a wonderful smile on his face and he just brought joy to all of us.
00:57The idea of a splash pad came because so many of our children experience joy from sensory activities, particularly water.
01:08But because of their complex needs and disabilities, most of them are unable to cope in busy local splash parks.
01:17So we wanted to be able to give them that kind of fun experience here at school and we just thought that that was the perfect way to remember Hayden.
01:28So everybody's pulled together with all kinds of different events, fundraising activities to get the money.
01:37And now we've opened.
