Some 40 engineering students from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have been working together for the past nine months, designing and building their own prototype rocket, which is expected to fly about 3,000m in the air.

Their aim now is to make the nation proud as the rocket, named Rimau 1, is slated to take part in the International Rocket Engineering Competition 2025 (IREC 2025), which will be held in Texas in the United States next month.

00:30Our rocket itself, like I mentioned before, is built and designed to fly to an altitude of 10,000 feet, carrying a 3 kg payload.
00:41So that's the main objective. We need to bring this 3 kg payload into an altitude of 10,000 feet and then successfully recover the rocket.
00:50So that's how we are judged whether how accurate we are in reaching that 10,000 feet altitude.
00:56So it has to be the, let's say we reach an exact altitude of 10,000 feet, we get more points for that for our accuracy.
01:04And then our payload is a scientific experiment that we can bring.
01:09We are about like 95% complete.
01:11So if you see the rocket out there is just remaining, we just have to paint it and put our stickers.
01:15So around this week or like maybe early next week we'll finish the painting and put our stickers.
01:21So we'll be done to join this competition now.
01:24So additionally we want to bring another 6 people comprised from our departments like I mentioned just now got 7 departments.
01:32Yeah.
01:32So it's not from the 7 departments.
01:35So propulsion, there's people going.
01:38So and then me and then there's payload and then there's recovery also there's people going.
01:44So we need funding for another 3 department leads as well as the co-leads.
01:50So the department lead and 6 people.
01:53One person we are coming out to around around 12,300 per person.
01:58So roughly we need another 76,000 ringgit more.
02:06We urge the public, we urge Malaysia as everyone who wants to support us to go on to our Instagram page UTM Rocket3
02:15and go on to our LinkedIn also if you search UTM Rocket3 you can go there and then you can help support us by donating for our fundraising campaign.
02:26Because this fundraising campaign is going to be important to help us secure the funds to bring these 6 students who are unable to travel.
02:37Basically what they need is like more on the to develop the rocket itself and then after that they need like flight ticket,
02:46they have like a traveling expenses, hotels, transportation during the two phases during in Malaysia when they are developing the product and secondly when they are at the Midland Texas.
03:01Alright, so we are really really hope that we can secure that for them, alright.
03:07They are very passionate, they are really really work day in day out, every day, please support us, alright.
03:15Now we are helping you guys, helping us to make this project come true and we are here, we always support our students, alright.
03:25Alright, so hopefully this is, we are the only participant in Malaysia for this year, alright.
03:32The only university participate in this rocketry competition and I'm quite confident that this student will excel.
03:40I appreciate you all.
03:43Alright, so now
03:54I will promote you BEN Designers.
