00:00Mr. Speaker, I rise today to thank the first responders and local leaders who have been
00:12working tirelessly to address the fallout from last week's major flooding in Allegheny
00:17and Garrick counties. Stormwater rushed through Western Port and Lone Coney in Western Maryland
00:23on Tuesday, washing out gas lines, damaging roads, bridges, flooding businesses, and even
00:29the local firehouse and library. When students and faculty were trapped in Western Port and
00:35George's Creek Elementary Schools, swift water rescue teams answered the call, bringing
00:41more than 200 students to safety while waters rose. This flooding only underscores how important
00:49it is to fully fund FEMA and to make sure that FEMA continues to help those who are most
00:55struck by disaster. Severe weather events are hurting communities across this country at
01:01rates we have never seen before. While we are still assessing the damage, we know that
01:05federal assistance will be necessary for a full recovery. Although the road ahead will
01:11be challenging, Western Maryland will remain stronger because of the storm. I urge my colleagues
01:16to keep my constituents in their prayer and also all those impacted by storms during the
01:21past week. For what purpose does the gentleman from Indiana seek recognition?
