01:09And on this edition, we showcase the defining moments
01:11of the most entertaining and crude faction of all time.
01:16D-Generation X.
01:18Originally comprised of Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and China,
01:23DX debuted in 1997.
01:26It immediately bucked the system, pushing the envelope
01:28with their sophomoric shenanigans and lewd humor.
01:32And in doing so, became trailblazers that revolutionized professional wrestling forever.
01:37At our number 10 spot on the countdown, the moment that DX was born.
01:41Ben Hart, obviously, you're not in a very good mood considering the antics of Shawn Michaels and Hunter Hurst.

01:52Now, before the hitman puts a sleeper hold on this crowd and puts them all to sleep.

02:51And that's where I remember sitting there with Vince.

03:11As DX spread their wave of immaturity across the WWE,
03:15nobody fell victim to their juvenile antics more than WWE legend,
03:20an on-screen commissioner, Sergeant Slaughter.
03:23The heartbreak kid is going to come out here and walk naked.

03:33They were funny things we would do with Sarge because he was the commissioner,
03:36but there were some things that I would think to myself,
03:38maybe I should go there.
03:39It might be a little bit too far.
03:41Bring that big, huge chin down here.
03:43And then Sarge would come over laughing and say something 10 times worse to me
03:47and say, you should say that.
03:49You want Ken Shamrock in a match here next week on Raw?

03:57and, you know, there's a bit of spittle.

04:51It was the most hilarious thing that I'd ever seen in my life.
04:56Poor Sergeant Slaughter was always the butt of DX's jokes.
05:01One night when the Sarge tried to stand up to these degenerates,
05:04he quickly learned DX doesn't follow the rules.
05:10You're either going to defend that title here tonight on Raw,
05:14or I'm going to strip you of that title here tonight on Raw.
05:18Your opponent tonight will be Hunter Hurst Helmsley.
05:28The European title is on the line.
05:31And did Generation X may be coming apart at the seams?
05:35Well, I was definitely excited.
05:36Everybody was waiting for that moment.
05:38You know what I mean?
05:38And they did make it look like they're going to fight.
05:41I can't wait to see when they finally lock up,
05:44when they finally start tearing at each other,
05:46what kind of accident we're going to see out of this match.

05:53I'm pretty sure they did a couple of jaunts across the ring.
05:57Why is Michael just lying there?

06:01And then there was a big, big, big move that took Sean down.

06:12Hunter and Sean celebrated like they won the world title,
06:15but it was the European title.
06:16This is the greatest moment of my life!

06:24This is just another example of them getting over on authority
06:27and out thinking the authority.

06:31It's nice to have the European Championship,

07:38Spray-painting a huge DX to two of them.
07:41I remember being a kid just thinking that, just...

07:44Mr. McMahon is visibly shaken.
07:47We had giant sheets that would, like, unfurl, coming down from the top of the building.
07:56And then we spray-painted DX on there, and that was a blast.
08:01You know, we could do whatever we wanted.
08:03We just had fun.
08:04And we were working with Vince and Shane and doing huge business.
08:07We're at the top of the building!
08:09The FOMO is out!
08:10That was the genius of D-Generation X.
08:13It's all about doing things that you want to do that you're not supposed to do.

08:23With a WWE universe all-in on the fun, DX would make quite a production of their antics for our number six moment.

08:43Getting to see them sort of ruin this show and run roughshod overall was just TV we had never seen before.

10:11We return to the countdown with our fifth selection of the greatest moments in D-Generation X's history.
10:19Now, over the years, DX's founding members would invite various superstars to join their crotch-chopping faction.
10:26But in 1998, DX shocked the WWE universe when they unveiled their newest member.
10:31Ladies and gentlemen, Iron Mike Tyson!
10:41The entire world of sports came to a halt when the baddest man on the planet entered the war zone.
10:48Here we go!
10:49Austin and the Tyson thing, and it was huge.
10:51He's one of the most famous men on the planet.
10:53I don't know that there was a place in the world that didn't know who Mike Tyson was.
10:57Mike, doing great, having fun, being a part of this promotion.

11:07And what I'm doing right now, I am calling your ass out right now, right here, boy!
11:15Obviously, involvement with Tyson made this thing huge.

11:22I'll tell you what, when he and Sean was screwed up in the rain, I was like, he's going to kill Shawn Michaels.

11:38We had made Mike Tyson a member of DX.

11:51The baddest man on the planet is part of DX, you know, the most degenerates on the planet.

11:57It's just electricity, it's just awesome.

12:06It turned out to be the biggest hoax that I've ever seen in wrestling!
12:09Mike Tyson has joined D-Generation X!
12:14Chaos followed DX wherever they went.
12:17So it was no surprise that just weeks later, Tyson would turn on DX at WrestleMania XIV.
12:23Tyson! Tyson! Tyson!
12:26With that loss, Triple H accused Shawn Michaels of dropping the ball and ejecting him from the faction.
12:31H.P.K., you dropped the ball.
12:36And now the ball is in my court!
12:39In our number four moment, the self-declared new leader of DX was ready to bolster his army.
12:48Triple H of DX is going to make a major announcement here tonight.
12:53At that point, I'm still seen as secondary to Shawn.
12:57There were conversations that I knew that were happening of like, can he do that on his own?
13:02Tonight, live in front of the world, I form the DX army.
13:08An army to take care of business that should have been taken care of right from the start.
13:17What's he saying, J.R.?
13:18And when you start an army, you look to the click.
13:25What?
13:26A new day is dawning for DX.
13:34You cannot replace the Shawn Michaels.
13:37And I didn't.
13:38I was just me, and I was having a great time, and people got with it.
13:42This is our new beginning for D-Generation X.
13:46There are numerous people now pitching ideas who want to be a part of DX.
13:51From our standpoint, Billy and Rojo were two guys that were kind of fit.
13:54I mean, it just all worked, and it wouldn't have worked with anybody else.
13:58Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, two in front of all ages.
14:01None of us have the star power that Shawn Michaels had, but all three of us kind of made up for that, and there was a different dynamic.
14:10The number three moment of the countdown.
14:12The moment that wrestling fans had long dreamt about.
14:15Monday Night War rivals DX and WCW's NWO.
14:20In the same ring for an epic showdown on the biggest stage.
14:26What an absolutely historic moment.
14:30That match was unreal.
14:33And for the first time ever at WrestleMania, the match we never, ever thought we'd see.
14:38Triple H and Sting one-on-one.
14:41It involved legends from a bygone era, factions from a bygone era.
14:48Oh my God!
14:49It's DX!
14:50What?
14:51DX came out, and I feel that rush and the whole deal, and it started to become more of the WCW versus WWE.
14:59Sting, what are you doing?
15:01Sting jumping on top of all of DX!
15:04That's something we thought we had never seen!
15:06When the NWO music hit.
15:10Oh my God!
15:13As long as I kept the game face on, I got to just be a fan and just sit there.
15:17The new world honor!
15:18A lot of that was like dream scenario, like NWO versus DX.
15:22The Thunderday War have come to WrestleMania!
15:26Truly talks to the rivalry of WCW and WWE.
15:30Shawn Michaels, sweet kid music!
15:33I think it helped the match, and I think it was a huge moment, and I'm so proud of being a part of it.
15:40Shoulders down and the game prevails!
15:42There's a 15-year-old kid inside of everybody.
15:46That's what all of that was.
15:47It is real, raw emotion.
15:49Look at these personalities.
15:52Look at these superstars in this ring at the same time.
15:55It was that acknowledgement on our end of, forget the characters.
15:59This is awesome for us.

16:15D-Generation X was often called the most controversial group in WWE history.
16:19But their juvenile antics also created some of the most hilarious moments in WWE.
16:27As DX evolved over time, one thing remained the same.
16:31DX never took no for an answer.

16:37And that was made clear from the very beginning, when network television executives tried to censor the unpredictable and, at times, raunchy behavior of D-Generation X.

16:54This past week, D-Generation X was informed that TSN, Star TV, Sky Sports, and USA Network is drawing the line on standards and practices as it relates to WWF programming and D-Generation X.
17:08It was our understanding that the USA Network not being happy with some of the things that we had done on television.
17:16We will only use the words ass, damn, and hell.
17:21And we thought, like, okay, this is fantastic.
17:23Let's push this envelope.
17:24We promise there will be less f*** references.
17:28It was just the right thing for that time period.
17:32It was perfect.
17:33What f*** mouth?

17:35I was glued to the TV, watching, thinking, this is a moment that's going to stand the test of time, because they're doing something that they're not supposed to do.
17:45We will have less references to our enormous genitalia.
17:50I remember getting a call, I just heard from USA, and I was like, okay, and then, like, I loved it.
17:56I did not sleep with that young intern.
17:59As a matter of fact, I was a bull knight!
18:05So here we are, the number one DX moment in our countdown.
18:11At the height of the Monday Night War between WWE and WCW, D-Generation X would break ground by marching into enemy territory.
18:21We've got to be here.
18:23Making WWE true must-see television.
18:27D-Generation X proudly starts the war against WCW.

18:38WCW is trying to hurt business.
18:40We booked TV in a venue, then they booked a scope, right, just down the road.
18:44And things are thrown out like, we should go down there and do something live in their parking lot.
18:48D-Generation X and the World Wrestling Federation are in town.
18:52When we got there, it was craziness.
18:57The people just went nuts.
18:59This shop sucks!

19:04D-Generation X, the only group in the world with the Gahones big enough to come to the front line!
19:13And who rules the world of professional wrestling?
