“Pleasing people across border…” Omar blasts Mehbooba as they clash on ‘X’ over IWT| Op Sindoor

Srinagar (J&K), May 16 (ANI): Amid heated tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, the political climate in Jammu-Kashmir remains tense and fragile. In a recent incident, J&K CM Omar Abdullah AND People Democratic Party (PDP) Chief engaged in a war of words on ‘X’, on May 16. After Mufti questioned the CM on the Indus Treaty, Abdullah accused her of appeasing “people across the border”. The war of words escalated after Omar expressed his opinion on revival of Tulbul Navigation Barrage in North Kashmir. Countering CM Omar’s stance, PDP Chief called it ‘deeply unfortunate’ and said ‘Weaponising something essential like water is inhumane’. Mufti’s remarks infuriated J&K CM, who accused her of having ‘blind lust to score cheap publicity across the border’. He maintained his stand against the IWT, claiming it as the “biggest historical betrayal” to the interests of people in Jammu Kashmir. Countering Omar’s post on ‘X’, Mehbooba Mufti accused his party of shifting loyalties for political gain. “We don’t need adopt warmongering rhetoric,” Mufti said, training guns on CM Omar by bringing his grandfather’s political stance into the war of words. “I’ll rise above the gutter you want to take this conversation to by keeping the late Mufti Sahib and “North Pole South Pole” out of this…” an Angry Omar wrote. Speaking to ANI on her ‘X’ spat with the J&K CM, Mehbooba Mufti reaffirmed her call for peace in the valley and termed his remark ‘provocative’.
