00:00:00It is great to have you company. My name is Tom Brookes.
00:00:03Alongside me in the commentary box for this race is Karun Chandhok.
00:00:06And David Coulthard here to guide you through the action.
00:00:09And what a weekend's worth of racing we have had all ready.
00:00:12It is going to be hugely exciting over the course of this 29-lapper today.
00:00:15With the addition of Pitbussin for the very first time as well.
00:00:21Let's have a closer look then at this Monaco circuit.
00:00:23We first raced here back in 1929, believe it or not.
00:00:27The initial race was over four hours long.
00:00:29Some 96 years later, we are here with the premier electric international racing series.
00:00:343.3 kilometers, 19 turns in total.
00:00:37Karun Chandhok is an absolute classic in this racetrack, isn't it?
00:00:40There are iconic monuments all the way around it.
00:00:43But none more so than the actual corners themselves.
00:00:46Mirabeau, Portier, Lowe's Hairpin.
00:00:48Tabac as we are coming through the chicane as well.
00:00:51They are just brilliant overtaking opportunities.
00:00:54Down into the chicane, down into turn one.
00:00:57But actually, I think with the attack mode,
00:01:00it's going to be a bit of fun into Mirabeau today as well.
00:01:02Yeah, four-wheel drive for the first time ever in attack mode at Monaco.
00:01:06Saw the drivers going through Tabac there.
00:01:08In towards the final section, Larascas.
00:01:10And then Anthony Notes completes the lap.
00:01:12Pit boost to mention as well in this race.
00:01:14Drivers will have to come to a stop for 34 seconds.
00:01:17Take on an extra 10% worth of energy with that.
00:01:21And it will make things very exciting in terms of the strategy.
00:01:25But let's guide you through the grid then ahead of the E-Prix this afternoon.
00:01:29It is Zane Maloney who lines up at the back of the field
00:01:31with Jake Hughes, his second successive start from 21st on the grid.
00:01:35Next up, Buemi and Nick Cassidy.
00:01:37His second-worst starting position of the 2025 season.
00:01:40Norman Natto, row number nine for him.
00:01:42He was on pole two weeks ago in Miami.
00:01:44Podium man from Miami, Lucas di Grassi lines up alongside.
00:01:47Then you've got Verne and da Costa.
00:01:49He's second in the championship at the moment
00:01:51is the Portuguese driver, Nico Muller.
00:01:53And Stoffel Van Doorn next up on the grid.
00:01:55Van Doorn leading Maserati's home charge in that team's home race.
00:01:59Then it's Sam Bird and McLaren on 12th position on the grid
00:02:03with David Beckman just outside of the top 10 in the Cupra-Kiro.
00:02:07And this is how the top 10 lines up on the grid here in Monte Carlo.
00:02:12We're hugely excited to see what happens.
00:02:1410th place on the grid is Maximilian Gunther.
00:02:16That's the only time he has lined up in 10th place all season.
00:02:20He's only lined up outside of 10th once all year as well.
00:02:23Eden Mortara lines up in ninth position.
00:02:25Unlucky to miss out on the duels after free practice pace for him.
00:02:29Then it is Mitch Evans.
00:02:31He was the 2024 winner of this E3 last year.
00:02:33That's his best quali since Jeddah in February.
00:02:36Then you've got Jake Dennis alongside him on that row of the grid.
00:02:39His first ever top 10 starting position here in Monte Carlo.
00:02:43Robin Friese was second at this race in 2021.
00:02:47And he's joined by the reigning world champion Pascal Berline.
00:02:50Porsche aiming for their first ever victory on the streets of Monaco.
00:02:55Double Formula 2 race winner in Monaco.
00:02:57The number 21 Nick de Vries lines up on the next row of the grid
00:03:01with Dan Tictum alongside.
00:03:03That's a career best qualifying for the Briton in Formula E in the Cupra-Kiro.
00:03:07He's had great pace so far this weekend.
00:03:10And the front row of the grid is occupied by Oliver Rowland.
00:03:12He hit the wall in the dual finals.
00:03:14He's had three podiums in five races and leads the driver's championship by 14 points.
00:03:19Taylor Barnard, his second ever pole position
00:03:21as he aims to become the youngest ever winner in Formula E at just 20 years of age.
00:03:28So then, drivers are lined up on the grid, completing their burnouts.
00:03:32They make their way into their final starting positions.
00:03:3529 laps of action.
00:03:36DC, you've just been down on the grid.
00:03:38It was absolutely jam-packed there, but the atmosphere was quite literally electric.
00:03:43It is indeed, and that's what I love about Monaco as well.
00:03:45It's always a crazy grid.
00:03:46It's exciting, and I think for me it's quite difficult to tell.
00:03:50You've got the old hand against the young charger.
00:03:54You've got the prodigy alongside his former teacher.
00:03:58What do you think, Karun, between those two?
00:04:01You've got those two running the first corner.
00:04:03You've also got Dan Tictum starting up in the lofty heights of third place,
00:04:06which we've not seen the Cupra-Kiro doing.
00:04:09So, I'm interested to see how he plays the opening part of this race as well.
00:04:13There's Barnard on the left-hand side of your picture and Oliver Rowland on the right.
00:04:1722 of the world's best drivers ready to take to the grid for this one.
00:04:21Dan Tictum, as I said, his best ever qualifying in Formula E.
00:04:24The five red lights are about to come on as we wait to see who will be the master in Monaco.
00:04:29As the lights go out and we go racing, Rowland chops over on Dan Tictum as Barnard leads them down towards the first corner.
00:04:35Look at the freaks on the outside in the Mahindra.
00:04:37Side-by-side action there further back.
00:04:39They go two-by-two through Sainte-Denis.
00:04:41Up the rise and Massenet into Beauregard in Casino Square.
00:04:44It's Barnard who leads from pole position at the front of this race.
00:04:48Track position really important in this race.
00:04:50It's not like some of the other Formula E tracks we've been to, which are big, wide-open tracks.
00:04:56You can overtake here, but track position, getting ahead of the opposition, will still be critical.
00:05:02And Telepuntsa Costa trying to make some ground here from 15th on the grid.
00:05:05That is Nico Miller on his inside there.
00:05:07It's Edda Mortara who is side-by-side with Max Gunter in the DS Penske.
00:05:11On the outside there, Dennis getting friendly with Pascal Wehrlein.
00:05:14It's three abreast in the middle of the pack there.
00:05:16Someone's going to come up worse for wear, surely, as they go through down into Bortier.
00:05:20And somehow they all manage to retain their front wings.
00:05:23Wehrlein moving ahead of Dennis in all of that melee.
00:05:25Yeah, surprising actually that they're taking such a risk at this stage of the race.
00:05:30You know, we know this is going to be a slow burn the first few laps,
00:05:33and then the strategy will start to come into play.
00:05:36But I guess the theory is, if they're all bunched up and you can get an easy place, go for it.
00:05:41But it's quite a high risk.
00:05:43Tom, as you were saying before, this is the first time we've got pit boosts here.
00:05:46There's a little bit of a journey into the unknown in terms of the strategy.
00:05:49But I think what we'll see now is a little bit of what we call a banking period.
00:05:56There's definitely a weird noise coming from my car, mate.
00:06:01I can't hear it, actually.
00:06:05So, maybe a cause for concern already for Roland.
00:06:07When he's off the throttle pedal on the regen, you can hear it, can't you?
00:06:11Like a rattling.
00:06:12Yeah.
00:06:13There's quite a harsh rattling noise.
00:06:14Exactly.
00:06:15Well, we don't actually know what, if any, of the drive parts they had to change other than the suspension.
00:06:22Yeah, for those of you misqualifying, Roland crashed down there at Saint-Nibau.
00:06:27I think the rear left quite hard.
00:06:29And, you know, in the two hours they've had in between, they would have had to repair some bits.
00:06:34But maybe there's some lingering damage.
00:06:36Yeah, so let's see what happens there for Oliver Roland.
00:06:38Second he is, at the moment, Nick de Vries right behind.
00:06:40Ticktom's lost the place off the start then as they come down through and into Mirabeau.
00:06:45Wide behind there for Ticktom as he looks to the outside.
00:06:48It's so tight in the front of the pack as you can see them all jostling for places.
00:06:52There's Dennis on the outside of Pascal Berlein.
00:06:54Side by side, the Andretti versus the Porsche.
00:06:57Bit of contact between them, but no harm done.
00:06:59And Dennis manages to hold place.
00:07:02Yeah, we'll have a look and see.
00:07:05Let's listen in to Roland.
00:07:06We've heard him play.
00:07:08Let's listen off-throttle into the Ishikage here.
00:07:14Yeah, it sounds like something's scraping it off the ground almost, doesn't it?
00:07:19And then...
00:07:20Yeah, on axle as well.
00:07:22Yeah.
00:07:23Well, that is... it's got to be drive related.
00:07:27Can't be any of the suspension parts, so maybe there's something on...
00:07:31Doesn't appear to have any issue on deploying his energy.
00:07:36So, what we're looking at, so just to finish up my point.
00:07:39This is the point where they want to save energy, bank energy.
00:07:41The pace will be a bit slower than what we'll see later on.
00:07:44Then there'll be a point, Tom, around lap 10 or 11.
00:07:48Where they'll go for it.
00:07:50They'll absolutely unleash their pace, especially the leaders.
00:07:52We'll see some attack modes.
00:07:53Because the pitstop window, we think, is between lap 13 to lap 18.
00:07:58That's where the pit boost will take place.
00:08:00And they'll all have to do the same stop.
00:08:03Oh, Müller, that's a problem.
00:08:05That's not a pit boost stop, that's a rear right problem there.
00:08:08Yeah, oh, Müller must have had a puncture or something along the lines of that.
00:08:11That's such a shame for the German driver.
00:08:14And he...
00:08:15For the slow stop as well.
00:08:17Well, he's going to have to be hoping now for a safety car
00:08:19to try and bring him back into some form of protection in this race.
00:08:21He's now back out into the fast lane.
00:08:24But that's a huge disappointment there for him.
00:08:26Look at Sam Bird on the outside of David Beckman.
00:08:29Trying to make some moves there in the Neon McLaren
00:08:32as Müller exits the pit lane.
00:08:36And it jostles up for position down at the Fairmont hairpin.
00:08:39I wonder if Müller made contact with the Consta somewhere.
00:08:43Because they were close together on the grid.
00:08:46And...
00:08:48Let's have a look at the Consta's front wing when it comes down.
00:08:51Yeah, so at this stage, for Müller, he's got to hope for a safety car, hasn't he?
00:08:56Yeah, so Barnard just backing the pack up at the moment.
00:08:58We're about 10 seconds off the pace that we saw him qualifying.
00:09:01So it just gives you an idea of how easy these drivers are taking it at the moment.
00:09:04Trying to reserve that energy, keep it in the bank.
00:09:07When the pit boost window opens, it's between the batteries,
00:09:09between 40 to 60% state of charge.
00:09:12That's when the FIA will then open that pit boost window.
00:09:15Drivers are then free to come in.
00:09:16And they must come in. It's mandatory.
00:09:18They can't skip it whatsoever.
00:09:19They will come to a stop for 34 seconds.
00:09:21Cables plugged into the back.
00:09:22They'll have an extra energy boost in the race.
00:09:25Then they can get back out.
00:09:26So it does have that different element of strategy here.
00:09:28Because they can do attack mode before or after the pit stop.
00:09:31There's nothing saying they have to do the pit boost stop before they do attack modes.
00:09:37Great on-board view there from the driver.
00:09:41Various information available on his dash.
00:09:44And it's kind of a case of hurry up and wait, isn't it?
00:09:47As they just manage that energy.
00:09:50And try to avoid running into the bank or something.
00:09:52What's interesting here, because no one's going for attack mode early.
00:09:54I was talking down to Dan Ticktum on the grid.
00:09:56He said, you just have to wait and see how the race develops.
00:09:58He said, I need to stay up the sharp end of the field in order to be in contention.
00:10:02Let's have a look at the race start then.
00:10:03So Tharma gets an absolute flyer.
00:10:05Brogan chops over on Ticktum down to the first corner.
00:10:10And then look at D'Costa here on the outside.
00:10:12Brogan tries to follow him through.
00:10:14Dennis is side-by-side there with Robin Frites.
00:10:16And there's a bit of contact there between Frites and Dennis as well.
00:10:20I was trying to see if D'Costa was clear of Buller there.
00:10:23So this is Ticktum listening.
00:10:24There. He's had to check himself there.
00:10:26He had to back out of it.
00:10:28And that gave D'Costa momentum to come around the outside.
00:10:31So yeah, nothing Ticktum could do there.
00:10:33And played it smart.
00:10:35Did damage to his front wing.
00:10:37Yeah, he's got boxed in.
00:10:39So no choice.
00:10:40And then that gives a free run for degrees around the outside.
00:10:44So Cassidy and Maloney have gone for an early attack mode.
00:10:48Again, if you're new from the league, the drivers only need to take attack mode twice.
00:10:51Look at the graphic on the left-hand tower.
00:10:53The two dots indicate how many more they have to take.
00:10:56So you can see Cassidy's got only one more after this.
00:10:59They can do it.
00:11:00Eight minutes in total.
00:11:01Four and four.
00:11:02Six and two.
00:11:03Or two and six.
00:11:04And there's the benefit.
00:11:06Can't really get past the freeze.
00:11:10Copy. Happy to over-consume if you can try to get past.
00:11:35So he's deciding to pull the card early.
00:11:38And I can't say I blame him, because he's mired right down in the pack after a miserable day so far.
00:11:42Look there at the Andretti of Jake Dennis going to the outside.
00:11:46Pascal Wehrlein, again, he is side-by-side with him.
00:11:49Just on board there with Robin Frites, who's got boxed off his seat at the battle that's unraveling in front of him.
00:11:55He's tried that a couple of times now.
00:11:57So Wehrlein is wise to the fact that he's trying to launch it around.
00:12:02But Wehrlein's got the upper hand in as much that he's at the apex.
00:12:05He can just open the steering and close the door.
00:12:07Ticktom side-by-side.
00:12:09Then De Vries feeling the need to defend.
00:12:11And Ticktom, I think by the looks of it...
00:12:16Yeah, I think Ticktom went across the chicane and he's dropped behind Wehrlein.
00:12:20Because he had a little look around the outside of De Vries.
00:12:23I'm sure we'll get a replay of it.
00:12:26But now Ticktom has dropped the pace.
00:12:29Yeah, must not gain an advantage when you cut chicanes like that.
00:12:32And the stewards will be coming down like a ton of bricks.
00:12:35Well, he definitely didn't gain an advantage. He's lost the pace.
00:12:38So, yes, make sure of that.
00:12:39He's not only missed the corner, he hasn't managed to rejoin.
00:12:43So you see our predicted pit window there.
00:12:45Laps 14 to 18, that's what our virtual race engineer thinks here.
00:12:49And as we said, one pit stop they must make in this race as they come across the timing line to begin lap 6.
00:12:54So we're about 8 to, what, 14 laps away from that at the moment.
00:12:58Cassidy has shown how powerful the attack mode can be.
00:13:02Because he's now dragged himself up into the top 10.
00:13:06Bearing in mind that he started down in 19th.
00:13:09That attack mode has helped him to really cycle forward.
00:13:11This is the moment I was saying before, Ticktom had to cut across the chicane.
00:13:15Yeah, he was side by side there with De Vries.
00:13:17Let's have a look at it.
00:13:18So we're coming through the tunnel, he's on the outside, he's got the momentum.
00:13:21Got on the curb, didn't he?
00:13:22Yeah.
00:13:23And, well, there's nowhere for Ticktom to go there really, is there?
00:13:27No space.
00:13:28That's all. He's put me on the curb on entry.
00:13:31Locked up.
00:13:32I was around the outside.
00:13:37What we haven't seen there, Ticktom's lost another place.
00:13:40And he dropped down to 7th.
00:13:41Yeah, he's lost two of them.
00:13:43So something else has happened and he's gone from 5th to 7th.
00:13:47That goes to show how tight the racing is and what a difference it can make.
00:13:50This is the difference that four-wheel drive and attack mode can make.
00:13:53Kasti is just about to come to the end of that one here as he comes through into the chicane.
00:13:57And he's right on the back here of Jake Dennis.
00:13:59So he cycled his way through from the mid-teams of this race right up to 6th place now.
00:14:04But he'll pay for that later.
00:14:05So it's all going to balance out as Kasti now is out of attack mode.
00:14:09He's back in two-wheel drive.
00:14:10He's back at 300 kilowatts of power in this one.
00:14:14Yeah, and what will happen when you use attack mode?
00:14:16You also use more energy.
00:14:18So he will have to spend a few laps now just banking and saving some energy
00:14:22and just trying to put some back in the tank.
00:14:25But I think that's worked out reasonably okay for him
00:14:28because he can kind of now go maybe for an early stop and make the benefit of that back position.
00:14:36Yeah, now they're in a position if there's something unusual with safety car,
00:14:41what's the safety car, who knows, red flag,
00:14:43then, yes, the others will still have their attack mode, but he still has one more.
00:14:48Nick has gained quite a few positions with his attack.
00:14:50His attack looks more powerful than expected.
00:14:52Green code, please, green code.
00:14:56So first look at the energy.
00:14:57Whoa, Tictum shunts his way up the inside.
00:15:00Evans there ready to try and pick France's pocket as well.
00:15:03So Tictum muscles his way through at the Fairmont hairpin,
00:15:06through into 7th position.
00:15:08But now it's our first chance to look at the energy and who's doing well so far?
00:15:12Barnard on 76, Roland on 78.
00:15:15Kasti though, he's been in attack mode and as you can imagine,
00:15:17he's expended more energy, so he's got less than the other drivers in that group at the front.
00:15:22That's okay, it'll balance off when they have to use attack mode.
00:15:25So that just illustrates, doesn't it, that extra one and a half percent,
00:15:29you know, that comes from having more performance as we see
00:15:33Buemi versus Fern, two old hands in this championship battling further down the pack,
00:15:3818th and 19th for them, both former champions of course.
00:15:42Tictum down the inside!
00:15:43That's not gonna work, surely!
00:15:45Evans alongside him now.
00:15:46Yeah, Evans gonna go through surely as we go through into,
00:15:49as he knows Tictum's got the line covered off though,
00:15:51holds firm in 8th place, 7th place for now as they come across the timing line.
00:15:56They're side by side down the start-finish straight,
00:15:58and Evans is gonna want to get the hurry up here.
00:15:59Beckman's in attack mode behind there as well,
00:16:01in the second of the Cupra Keros.
00:16:02He is wing mirror to wing mirror with Edo Mortara,
00:16:05will have better traction on the exit thanks to four-wheel drive.
00:16:08Up the rise of Sandoval we go,
00:16:10and you wonder what David Beckman is gonna be able to do then here in this race.
00:16:14Our virtual race engineer reckons a four-minute, four-minute split
00:16:17is the most efficient at this stage in the race.
00:16:21So Barna backing the back up!
00:16:23Tictum!
00:16:24Oh, I thought he was gonna get his nose cut off there,
00:16:26but it's left invulnerable here to Evans,
00:16:27who's now got the outside line which will turn into the inside line,
00:16:30down into Mirabeau.
00:16:31Tictum's really holding firm on the outside,
00:16:33is he gonna manage to retain that place still against Mitch Evans,
00:16:37and somehow he does!
00:16:39I mean, good fair racing, you have to say,
00:16:41they both, all three of those drivers,
00:16:43both Jaguars and Tictum gave each other room.
00:16:45Just over 1% down on energy compared to Roland and Debris.
00:16:50Eyes over to Wehrlein and Dennis, no concerns.
00:16:57Keeping the driver informed in the picture as to where he is,
00:17:01and I guess, well, you'd rather be one ahead than one behind.
00:17:04Got a yellow flag down at turn 8, that's on the exit of Portier in the tunnel,
00:17:07so I wonder if there's some debris on track,
00:17:10maybe following some contact down the order.
00:17:13We'll wait and see what happens.
00:17:15If it's debris, if it's in a dangerous place,
00:17:16they might throw a safety car, but the yellow flag is now removed.
00:17:19There's a slippery service flag that's then soon cleared here as well,
00:17:24but it's now come back on,
00:17:25so we'll keep an eye out and see how this is.
00:17:27Oh, big one there is the Portier!
00:17:30That's the Costa, I think, in the wall.
00:17:32It is, Antonio finished the Costa out of the race in spectacular style!
00:17:36At the final corner, no doubt about it,
00:17:38safety car, that changes the complexion of this race completely.
00:17:41I'm not sure there's even a crane in that area of the track,
00:17:44it's such an unusual place,
00:17:46so it may be more than a safety car,
00:17:49or send them down the pit lane,
00:17:50because the last corner will be blocked.
00:17:53Goodness me, double yellow flag, no surprise at all,
00:17:56down at Anthony Knows, they can carry on racing for now.
00:17:59They're getting the tires ready in the pit lane there for the Costa,
00:18:01but he's going nowhere in that one, you can see quite clearly.
00:18:04Ladies and gentlemen, this is Race Control speaking.
00:18:06We will go full course yellow in 3, 2, 1.
00:18:12Full course yellow, please.
00:18:18That's tight, that is tight between the Jags and Dan Tickton there.
00:18:23And he'll try to argue that he was ahead going into Portier.
00:18:27Yeah, I think that's going to be an argument there between the teams
00:18:33that feels more persuasive.
00:18:35Look at this.
00:18:37This is like when you're at an average speed camera on the motorway, isn't it?
00:18:40And you're waiting for it to go back to national speed.
00:18:42Except when they get off the chicane, there's only one line through there,
00:18:44or room for one, so what are they going to do then?
00:18:49Well, Taylor Barnard it is that leads then,
00:18:51so the race is neutralized effectively with this full course yellow.
00:18:55Please keep the left-hand side at the T19 section.
00:19:00So, da Costa back in the pack at the moment.
00:19:03So, he's got Buemi, I think, on the inside going into the final course.
00:19:08No, he's like a bit further up.
00:19:09Oh, 3 into 1 just doesn't go.
00:19:12And da Costa biting off a bit more than he could chew there.
00:19:15Does the lunge matter, or what?
00:19:17I think it was Mortada.
00:19:19Yeah, sorry.
00:19:20Oh yeah, Mortada and Beckman, he tried the lunge out.
00:19:23Yeah, a little bit desperate, I think, to try and make that work.
00:19:27The problem is that Mortada was busy making his own overtake attempts on Beckman.
00:19:31You can just about, if you're lucky and well-behaved, get two cars through there.
00:19:35Three was never going to work, was it?
00:19:37No.
00:19:38Unfortunately, yeah, he would have had to pay a lot of that.
00:19:40Yeah, he didn't have enough of his car alongside on that particular corner
00:19:45to see that he was squeezed into the wall.
00:19:48That wall was going to come into play,
00:19:50but he didn't have enough of his car on that particular corner.
00:19:53So, what will happen now is drivers will be saving energy.
00:19:56They'll put the cars into a different power mode, essentially,
00:19:59to conserve as much energy as they can in this race.
00:20:03And this is going to change attack mode strategies,
00:20:05it's going to change pit boost strategies.
00:20:07Drivers who maybe would have planned to come in early in pit boost are now waiting.
00:20:11We've got Maloney into the box there as well.
00:20:13Not sure what that's all about.
00:20:15Another da Costa's attempt on the inside.
00:20:18I'd be very surprised if Beckman hasn't got some suspension damage
00:20:21from his clatter into the barrier there.
00:20:23Another look.
00:20:26Oh, front wing damage, yeah.
00:20:28Two hits as well.
00:20:30Left rear, and then his front gets a whack as well.
00:20:32I think that would have compromised Buemi, because he was in attack mode at that point.
00:20:37And I think I saw one of the Maseratis missing a front wing as well.
00:20:41That's what I think.
00:20:42Yeah, I think so too.
00:20:44And I think I saw one of the Maseratis missing a front wing as well.
00:20:47It might have been Hughes.
00:20:49I thought, I just saw a flashback.
00:20:51What's going on here?
00:20:52Yeah, it's a technical problem, isn't it?
00:20:54So...
00:20:55Is there only a chain penalty?
00:20:56No.
00:20:57No.
00:20:58It's a change of tire then, isn't it?
00:21:00Or are they checking something on the rear powertrain for Maloney?
00:21:04Let's hope that this is a brief stop and he can get back out in the race.
00:21:08But they're not exactly hurrying here in the Lola Yamaha Raps garage at the moment, are they?
00:21:12Let's have a look at Bettman's point of view of what happened at that final corner.
00:21:15We ride on board with him.
00:21:17So at the moment, he's going to have Mortaro.
00:21:19He's inside.
00:21:20He's inside.
00:21:21He's going to cross over here.
00:21:22What a...
00:21:23Yeah.
00:21:25And for that corner, for that profile, you can't treat it like every other right-hand corner.
00:21:30It's so different that to try and lunge there is just the...
00:21:35You know, you're rolling the dice.
00:21:36It's like going into the casino and putting everything on overrunning.
00:21:41On overrunning two sixes.
00:21:43Cassidy's way down, isn't he?
00:21:45Much more than he was after that first attack mode.
00:21:48After the first attack mode, he was only one and a half percent down.
00:21:51Yeah.
00:21:52But in this whole thing of racing against Tick, Tim and Evans,
00:21:55it seems like he's dropped another one and a half or two percent away.
00:22:00Okay.
00:22:01So, let's have a look and see.
00:22:04I'm surprised they've not thrown a full safety car for this one.
00:22:06He's been under full course yellow for quite some time.
00:22:10But what this does is it neutralizes the race.
00:22:11So, the cars are all circulating around now at the same speed.
00:22:14But it means that the gaps will stay at a constant between the other drivers.
00:22:18Right. Here we go. Here's a crane.
00:22:19Yeah. So, they've got a sort of digger that goes out on the track to pick up.
00:22:25Seems to take them quite a while to actually scoop it off the ground.
00:22:28Yeah. And this place is amazing, isn't it?
00:22:30They are normally the quickest at recovering cars out of the way.
00:22:33Yeah.
00:22:34A lot of experience, of course, of people hitting barriers.
00:22:37I think one thing, Tonda, will be that is good and is not going to create confusion
00:22:42is none of those energy numbers, apart from Cassidy, look close to the pit stop window.
00:22:47So, we're not going to have a chaos of people all trying to pit under, you know,
00:22:52and there's chaos in the pit lane.
00:22:53So, yeah, that is good.
00:22:56I'm trying to see the second Maserati.
00:22:58So, I think that is Van Dorn is the lead Maserati.
00:23:01Yeah, he is.
00:23:02His front wing is okay.
00:23:03So, must be huge there.
00:23:04What a shot.
00:23:05De Costa back to the garage.
00:23:07And the man who was second in the championship going into the first race of the weekend here in Monte Carlo.
00:23:12If it carries on as it is, he'll be losing not only that, but possibly another position to Taylor Barnard in the Drivers' Championship.
00:23:20Still plenty of this race left to go.
00:23:23And given the fact that we've been under full course yellow for quite a long period of time,
00:23:28over 4 minutes and 15 seconds is the minimum to add laps on.
00:23:33There's the huge front wing I was talking about.
00:23:36Yeah.
00:23:37So, that's come off just coming out of the swimming pool, and the Marshall running to its rescue.
00:23:42So, he's obviously run into someone else earlier, hasn't he?
00:23:46He was sliding down the final row of the grid.
00:23:49There's more debris here at the swimming pool as well.
00:23:51Well, we're going to get at least one added lap, aren't we?
00:23:53At a minimum, yeah.
00:23:55Yeah, no doubt about it. Possibly a couple here.
00:23:57Which again will change the complexion of the race.
00:23:59And I wonder whether the stewards will be having a look at Hughes' car.
00:24:03Because the front wings, in terms of an aerodynamic perspective, they're not actually that important in Formula E.
00:24:08But there is also a safety element to consider in the racing as well.
00:24:12And they might have a look at that.
00:24:14And possibly give them a black and orange flag to say that your car's unsafe.
00:24:18And they must come in and put a new front wing on it.
00:24:22So, lap 11 out of 29 we are on.
00:24:24Still under full course yellow with the race being neutralized.
00:24:27Drivers that have taken attack mode include Nick Cassidy, David Bettman, Sebastian Buemi, Jake Hughes and Zane Maloney.
00:24:34Everybody else, they've still got two attack mode deployments available in this race.
00:24:38And everybody still owes one pit boost.
00:24:41We're still looking mid-track.
00:24:43Okay.
00:24:44Still looking mid-track.
00:24:45But this will change quite a bit based on the consumption.
00:24:47Full course yellow ending in 5, 4, 3, 2...
00:24:55So, full course yellow ends then.
00:24:56The green flag flies on lap 11.
00:24:58And look at that!
00:24:59Opportunist for Jake Dennis as he goes through on two drivers.
00:25:03De Vries was asleep.
00:25:04De Vries was completely asleep there.
00:25:06And Berlang tried to have a look.
00:25:09But it was Dennis who took full advantage of it and gained up into third place.
00:25:13That's amazing that he would miss that.
00:25:15Because it's not like his engineers telling him.
00:25:17It's their car for the course that's on the radio.
00:25:19So, unless he had communication issues and he just didn't hear it.
00:25:23Look at Van Dorn going head-to-head with Bird here as well.
00:25:25Hughes just in front of him.
00:25:26Keep an eye out as well for Lucas di Grassi.
00:25:28In the blue and yellow.
00:25:29Lola, Yalem, Yamaha out.
00:25:30Because he is in attack mode.
00:25:32Took that as soon as the race restarted.
00:25:34And will be cycling his way up the order here as they come through 48.
00:25:38I think Hughes has gained on that restart as well.
00:25:40Just like Dennis.
00:25:41Because he was two behind Van Dorn.
00:25:43He's now gained two places.
00:25:44So, again, looks like some drivers got napping on the restart.
00:25:47But not Taylor Barnard.
00:25:48Still up in the lead.
00:25:50So, through into Tabac we go.
00:25:52Barnard, Rowland, Dennis.
00:25:53That's your top three.
00:25:54De Vries down to fourth place.
00:25:55And Wehrlein in fifth position.
00:25:57That's the advantage of being a bit further down the order.
00:25:58Look at Rowland trying on the inside against Taylor Barnard.
00:26:00Into the swimming pool chicane.
00:26:02Barnard takes the escape road.
00:26:04That's going to cost Rowland potentially some momentum.
00:26:06And maybe a possibility at track position here too.
00:26:10Yeah, we definitely need to be able to see that again.
00:26:12Because he had enough of his car alongside, I believe, to claim the corner.
00:26:19It's a little bit like Anthony Noges.
00:26:22It's only ever going to end in tears if the other car tries to take the turn.
00:26:25Yeah, but I think you've got a point.
00:26:27All the stewards are going to look at it and go, hang on.
00:26:29He cut the chicane and stayed in front.
00:26:31So will Barnard be asked to give that place up?
00:26:33Dennis is under investigation for over-speeding under a full-course yellow.
00:26:37So he mistimed it.
00:26:38So maybe he went early and not the others got napping.
00:26:41We'll wait and see what happens there.
00:26:43But that's come up on our timing screen here in the commentary box.
00:26:46And I'm sure that the message will be relayed to him as well.
00:26:49Ticktom on the outside then here of the Jaguar of Nick Cassidy.
00:26:52Trying to go through on the inside to the Fairmont hairpin.
00:26:55Crunch of carbon fiber there as Merline's in the middle of a bit of a sandwich.
00:26:58De Vries gets a clatter on the back in fourth as well.
00:27:02Ticktom's still the sandwich.
00:27:04He's still the meat in the sandwich of the two Jaguars there.
00:27:07So they've all had a go around the hairpin.
00:27:09But I think he was still behind Cassidy and in front.
00:27:12Watch Rowland. Rowland going for the move.
00:27:14Down into the Swimpool chicane.
00:27:16Then into the Newville chicane we go.
00:27:17And Barnard again takes the escape road.
00:27:20Slam dunk. He's gained advantage.
00:27:22He's got to give the place though.
00:27:23You can get a goal.
00:27:24He's responded to that.
00:27:26So Rowland hits the front for the first time in this race.
00:27:28Going through on the inside.
00:27:30In to back then.
00:27:31And Dennis sniffs an opportunity then here.
00:27:33He's under investigation for over-speeding under the full-course yellow.
00:27:37And now the pace is starting to pick up as this race enters a new dynamic.
00:27:40Dennis to the outside of Barnard.
00:27:42Into La Rascasse then.
00:27:43Can he make it work? Not quite through there.
00:27:46What about Anthony Knowles?
00:27:47Nothing doing for Dennis at the moment.
00:27:49This is getting tight and frantic at the sharp end of this race.
00:27:52So what's happening is Rowland is thinking we're getting close to the pit window.
00:27:56So he's up the pace. He's gone for it.
00:27:58Now, which one of these drivers thinks about attack mode?
00:28:01Will they go for it to try and open up a gap?
00:28:04In Jeddah, this is what Rowland did.
00:28:06Took the lead.
00:28:07Went for an early attack.
00:28:08Opened the gap before the pitstop.
00:28:10Does he do the same here?
00:28:11Well, by the time the pitstops have worked out, he had about a four-second advantage, if you remember.
00:28:14Then he ran out of energy because of a miscalculation.
00:28:17None of them doing it. They're all avoiding it.
00:28:19I think you would like to see a little bit more of a window to Barnard
00:28:22so you could effectively take it and then try and maintain position.
00:28:26Based on your calculations of earlier, you reckon it was a couple of seconds.
00:28:29Yeah, about a second and a half is what the team's thinking will be the time loss.
00:28:33Tipton again looking on Cassidy into the hairpin for the outside line.
00:28:37Trying to switch it for the inside down the hill.
00:28:39Again, I think it's just a little bit too far away for the Briton at the moment.
00:28:43On board, we ride here then with Jake Dennis through the tunnel.
00:28:47Seventh in the Drivers' Championship.
00:28:49As you can see, winless since Saudi Arabia in 2024.
00:28:54He would love to get Andretti back onto the top step of the podium at this,
00:28:58one of the most sought-after race victories of the season.
00:29:02Let's have a look then at Dennis' restart after the full course yellow.
00:29:05He's under investigation for this at the moment.
00:29:07It's on the steering wheel.
00:29:10Keep watching the lights.
00:29:11Because they'll go out when it goes green.
00:29:14Presumably.
00:29:15Yes.
00:29:16I think he's okay.
00:29:17Yeah?
00:29:18I think he went when the lights went off.
00:29:20100%.
00:29:22And the speed of light is pretty quick.
00:29:25Well, good reactions there for Jake Dennis.
00:29:27We come across the timing line.
00:29:29So we're now entering that pit boost window.
00:29:31It'll be slightly later, I would imagine, because of the...
00:29:34Cassidy didn't, though.
00:29:35He's straight in, isn't he?
00:29:36For that pit boost stop.
00:29:38He's got one attack mode deployment remaining in this race as well.
00:29:41So the recharge process where you add 10% of energy is gone on.
00:29:45How's it look?
00:29:47The recharge is about 34 seconds, but you lose about 55 seconds in total
00:29:52by doing the stop.
00:29:53There's the graphic.
00:29:54Cassidy recharging.
00:29:55Yeah, Muller also in the box there as well.
00:29:57But it's a bit of an anomaly, really, because of the problems he had
00:30:00at the start of this race with that rear right puncture.
00:30:03So we're already at the halfway stage of this one.
00:30:06And look at this concertina-ing up.
00:30:08A dive on the inside there for Max Gunther, who's missing part of his front wing.
00:30:11He was looking for 12 on Sebastian Buemi.
00:30:14I don't think he was quite able to make that stick through there.
00:30:17So the graphic next to Muller indicates he is in that window now.
00:30:20So he's not in the pits, but if he wanted to pit, he could,
00:30:23because his energy level is below 60%.
00:30:26A yellow flag.
00:30:27Yep, yellow flag down at Turn 7.
00:30:30Evans. Mitch Evans stops.
00:30:32Mitch Evans has come to a halt on the downhill run into Portier.
00:30:37And the kart looks like it's a case of computer says no for the Kiwi.
00:30:41If he can't get that going, we could race, face another safety kart
00:30:45or full course yellow situation.
00:30:47And we'll start to see drivers in the pit window here.
00:30:50So this could be...
00:30:51We go full course yellow in 3, 2, 1.
00:30:56Full course yellow.
00:30:58Another full course yellow then for a second time in this race.
00:31:02Drivers must slow down, they must not overtake.
00:31:04And Mitch Evans' race comes to a premature conclusion following a technical problem.
00:31:09That's a huge shame for Jaguar at a race where they've had a lot of support here this weekend.
00:31:14And Muller's benefited, because he was the only one in that state of charge,
00:31:18below 60%, that allows him to pit.
00:31:21So he's going to lose much less time,
00:31:24and actually could bring him back into play here.
00:31:27Well, that's exactly what we were talking about.
00:31:28He needed something like a safety kart like full course yellow at the right time.
00:31:32Could this be an opportunity for Nico Muller to try and...
00:31:35It's just the luck of the racing guards, isn't it?
00:31:38When that happens, when...
00:31:40But he's missed, Buemi's missed his pit box.
00:31:43He's not starting, he's changing a rear tyre.
00:31:45I think he's got a puncture.
00:31:46Oh, right. Okay.
00:31:47So, Buemi's race then coming up here as well.
00:31:505, 4, 3, 2, 1.
00:31:53Green flag.
00:31:54Getaway.
00:31:55Yeah.
00:31:57Race to the exit of the pit lane as the green flag flies,
00:31:59and racing gets back underway then here in Monaco.
00:32:03And you can see a lot of drivers now in the pit boost window.
00:32:05Roland going for attack mode on the restart then.
00:32:07I think that's a smart move.
00:32:09I think now with the pit boost window opening,
00:32:11Roland wants free air with extra power and speed.
00:32:14This is exactly what he did to tactical brilliance in Jeddah.
00:32:19I think he's gone for the same move.
00:32:21But see if it works out, because Barnard's got great pace,
00:32:24as we saw through qualifying as well.
00:32:26The attack mode zone has actually been moved by 7 metres earlier on in the corner,
00:32:29so I wonder whether Roland, because he was pretty close when the race resumed
00:32:34from full course yellow back to green,
00:32:35whether he was just in the right place at the right time.
00:32:37Maybe Barnard was just a couple of metres too far to possibly activate it.
00:32:41Yeah, we're going to get to see very visibly the offset in performance.
00:32:45He'll not be able to do anything through his swimming pool,
00:32:48through his keying, but maybe up into Rascasse.
00:32:52We'll look at these though, David, because you've got all of the drivers
00:32:54but Roland in the pit boost window as well.
00:33:02So Roland there looking for the outside line,
00:33:04turns to the inside as well as he knows Barnard's got it covered off.
00:33:07He'll get him now.
00:33:08No doubt about it.
00:33:09Yeah, but that's cost them both a little bit of time in that battle for the group behind.
00:33:14So Roland here hits the front with four-wheel drive and 350 kilowatts of power.
00:33:19Into the box comes Edo Mortara for Mahindra there.
00:33:23Look at Robert Price in the background.
00:33:24He's got 29 seconds of attack mode remaining
00:33:27and looking to try and challenge fifth place against Pascal Wehrlein up the hill.
00:33:31Watch Roland now.
00:33:32This is where he's going to unleash the pace.
00:33:34And De Vries has gone for it.
00:33:36So Nick De Vries in fourth place.
00:33:37He's gone for the early attack as well.
00:33:40Let's see how much of a gap Roland can open up before the stop.
00:33:43Mortara in.
00:33:44Yeah, pit boost for Mortara then.
00:33:47And he now will come out of the pit lane and resume his race.
00:33:53So he will of course be out of sync compared to everybody else.
00:33:56But Mortara has still got two attack mode deployments remaining.
00:33:59Whereas others who are up the road in front of him have got one left.
00:34:02So that might come to pay into the Swiss driver's favor later on in this race.
00:34:07See the Porsche of Pascal Wehrlein as well.
00:34:11Roland immediately nine times quicker on that first sector.
00:34:14Taking advantage of the extra performance.
00:34:17Yeah, that door also in the box there as well as Jean-Éric Vergne.
00:34:21So he's coming out.
00:34:22Cassidy has made his pit boost stop also.
00:34:25You can see that where the graphic on the left-hand side of the screen.
00:34:27When it goes from white to green, that's when you know a driver has taken their pit boost.
00:34:31They don't owe it for the remainder of the race.
00:34:34What about Barnard? He's in as well as James Gibbs following through.
00:34:38Freud's also in the box as well.
00:34:41So the game that Barnard and Dennis are going to play is they've not taken any attack mode now.
00:34:47So they're going to get a top-up of energy, an extra 10% of energy.
00:34:50But they will have two attack modes to try and overtake Roland later on.
00:34:54So they've got, effectively a contra strategy.
00:34:57Roland's trying to make the gap now.
00:34:59They'll use one to catch him and then try and get past at that point as well.
00:35:04The risk with that though, as we saw in Miami, is if you wait too late for the attack modes.
00:35:08You get a yellow flag, a red flag even.
00:35:10You're not able to use it all for the end of the race.
00:35:12You will be hit with a penalty.
00:35:13So it's a riskier game to play.
00:35:16But it could pay great dividends there for them.
00:35:19We see Edmond Taro making his way through the swimming pool chicane.
00:35:21We see Jake Dennis exiting the pit lane as well as Taylor Barnard.
00:35:25Those two entered nose-to-tail with one another.
00:35:27Freud's also coming out of the box as well.
00:35:30And Roland is now coming to the end of his attack mode.
00:35:35Yeah, he's not that far ahead of De Vries and Wehrlein who are both in attack as well.
00:35:38But they've got more than a minute extra to play with.
00:35:41This is the key moment here though.
00:35:43But look at Mortarik as he has managed to make Haywaltz the sunshine here with a bit of clear track.
00:35:48And he's in attack mode here as well.
00:35:49So he's going to be able to pick these drivers off that are coming out of the pit lane.
00:35:52He gets Freud coming up the hill into Casino Square.
00:35:57So that's worked out nicely there for him.
00:35:58What does Roland do in retaliation?
00:36:00He's just coming to the end of his attack mode.
00:36:01Does he dive into the pit lane at the end of this one?
00:36:03No.
00:36:04Goes round again.
00:36:06He's just trying to use the clear track at the moment.
00:36:09Isn't he?
00:36:10Jaguar at the moment 13th for Nick Cassidy.
00:36:12But we saw Mitch Evans' race coming to an early conclusion after what seemed to be a technical problem.
00:36:17Saunders, you're down in pit lane.
00:36:18What has James got to say?
00:36:29Okay, let's be safe and do it at the end of this lap.
00:36:31Yes, copy.
00:36:33Box button.
00:36:50So, he's got a bit of a gap there.
00:36:52He's got a bit of a gap there.
00:36:53He's got a bit of a gap there.
00:36:54He's got a bit of a gap there.
00:36:55He's got a bit of a gap there.
00:36:57So, Oliver Roland will be into the box at the end of this lap.
00:37:00We just heard that on team radio.
00:37:02A shame for Mitch Evans as well, that technical problem thwarting him.
00:37:05Here's a bit of a stalemate you've got going on between two drivers in attack mode at the moment.
00:37:09I know, sorry, Nick De Vries in front of the attack mode Porsche of Wehrlein.
00:37:14Yes, but there's Roland just ahead of them now.
00:37:16So, Roland not being attack mode has meant that the gap is now just over a second.
00:37:21The key is, when these drivers come into pit, where do they feed out?
00:37:25Because the ones we're watching are Barnard and who's the next one behind him?
00:37:32Would be Dennis, wouldn't it?
00:37:33It would.
00:37:34But I tell you, the one who's gained is Nico Muller, don't forget.
00:37:37Yes.
00:37:38Because Muller has pitted.
00:37:39Muller's actually effectively ahead of Barnard and Dennis, isn't he?
00:37:42Because he's already pitted under the full-course yellow.
00:37:46So, actually Nico Muller is going to be in a great position.
00:37:49Watch, the race between Muller and Roland could be tight.
00:37:52Do you get the benefit immediately as you leave your pit box?
00:37:56If, with the 10% increase, you're still launching just as a two-wheel or you're launching as a four-wheel?
00:38:03I'm just trying to figure out, they've all, okay, two-wheel.
00:38:05Because they're all lined up in the pit lane here.
00:38:08So, in theory...
00:38:10Yes, but watch Muller, David, this is where it gets interesting.
00:38:13Nico Muller could end up in the net lead because of that full-course yellow pit stop.
00:38:18But he's also got two attack modes available to this as well.
00:38:20So, that's worked out beautifully there for Nico Muller as he cycles his way to the front of this race.
00:38:24The two drivers that are in front of him, David Beckman and Jake Hughes, have not yet taken their pit boost window stops then.
00:38:32And this has worked beautifully here for Nico Muller.
00:38:35It's fallen into his hands.
00:38:36Yeah, absolutely.
00:38:37You know, just having a full-course yellow at the right moment.
00:38:40You see, there's Dennis and there's De Vries.
00:38:44Yeah.
00:38:45No, Mortara, sorry.
00:38:47Yeah, they're all coming through.
00:38:48There's Mortara.
00:38:49There's Mortara.
00:38:50There's him going past Wehrlein.
00:38:52But Muller's...
00:38:54From having that puncture, or the tyre issue, whatever it was in the opening lap, dropped it back.
00:38:59But having that full-course yellow means he's gained about 30-40 seconds on everybody.
00:39:04And just jumped ahead of the leaders.
00:39:07Yeah, it's worked out really nicely there for Nico Muller.
00:39:09He is very much in the pound seats.
00:39:11Let's see how the race works out.
00:39:13No confirmation of any added laps at the moment.
00:39:17We can save more.
00:39:18Nico, we can save more.
00:39:46We can save some energy and get it back in the tank.
00:39:48So, in terms of the state of play at the moment, just to kind of recap.
00:39:53We think Cassidy is not pitted yet, has he?
00:39:57Oh, he has.
00:39:58He has.
00:39:59So he's the other one who's actually up.
00:40:00Yeah, the only driver that hasn't is Mitch Evans.
00:40:02He managed to get going there by the looks of things because it says he's in the pit lane at the moment.
00:40:05So Cassidy, did Cassidy benefit as well under...
00:40:09No, he pitted early, didn't he?
00:40:10But the problem is, he's done two attack modes.
00:40:13He's done left at the end of the race, whereas everybody else around him has still got one.
00:40:16No, but I'm trying to first explain how Cassidy's ended up in second place.
00:40:20Because in terms of track position, he was in that window early.
00:40:25He pitted before the full-course yellow.
00:40:28And then he's pitted back.
00:40:36And now everyone's pitted.
00:40:37This is a straight race for track position.
00:40:40Muller in the lead.
00:40:41Cassidy second.
00:40:42And then it's...
00:40:43The lead pack is now effectively third, fourth, fifth, sixth.
00:40:46Yeah.
00:40:47You would expect Cassidy to be a bit of a sitting duck as soon as the other drivers behind go into their attack mode.
00:40:52You can see from third down to ninth.
00:40:54Everybody has got at least one attack mode deployment remaining.
00:40:58And Cassidy, I think, has also spent a bit more energy compared to those around him.
00:41:02We saw earlier on as well that he had over-consumed.
00:41:06So he might have to save a little bit towards the end of this race just to compound those problems.
00:41:12So Cassidy obviously has used both his attack modes.
00:41:16Copy.
00:41:18So 5.1 for the attack mode laps.
00:41:21Or do you have to get the overall target down?
00:41:23The overall target down to 5.1.
00:41:25Overall target down to 5.1.
00:41:32And he's now got Cassidy all on the back of him there.
00:41:35So Cassidy is only...
00:41:36He's right behind Muller.
00:41:38And...
00:41:40We'll see when the energy numbers come up...
00:41:42How much less he has of the energy itself.
00:41:45But...
00:41:46What does this pack do, David, now?
00:41:48Because they are seven seconds behind.
00:41:50We know they've got more pace because, you know, they've generally shown it through the weekend.
00:41:55That's a big chunk of time to try and catch up.
00:41:57Yeah, it is a large amount of time.
00:41:59But I think underlying pace-wise, they are quicker than Cassidy and Muller.
00:42:04So I think...
00:42:05Can they take enough out of them?
00:42:08I think Cassidy's gonna just go...
00:42:11Well, I mean, he's clearly on the back of Niko Muller here.
00:42:13Muller's gonna have to let him go, surely, at some point.
00:42:16I mean, I know he's in attack mode at the moment, and that gap's gonna increase.
00:42:19But the problem is that he's now gonna be over-consuming even more, Niko Muller.
00:42:23Spending more of that energy that he's then gonna have to recoup later.
00:42:26We know that Cassidy's gonna have to do the same, but he's then gonna be vulnerable.
00:42:29I mean, look at that. Cassidy's got 9% less energy compared to those around him.
00:42:33So he's gonna be a sitting duck at the end of this one.
00:42:37What's his game? I don't get it.
00:42:38Because he's still pushing hard.
00:42:40Are we virtually racing other cars?
00:42:42Yeah, we are racing other cars. I will update you.
00:42:45Currently we are P1. Cassidy is right behind you.
00:42:48We need to stay ahead to defend position.
00:42:53But does he need to stay ahead, though? That's the question I've got.
00:42:56Because he's got so much less energy, Cassidy.
00:42:59He's gonna have to lift off before the end of this race.
00:43:01Especially with two added laps is what we expect to see with the amount of full-course yellows we've seen.
00:43:06So, yeah, I'm not sure.
00:43:09I have a feeling Muller's racing Roland.
00:43:12And that gap is coming down, though.
00:43:14It was 7.4. It's now 5 seconds.
00:43:17So that gap is coming down.
00:43:18Yeah, Muller's in energy-saving mode.
00:43:21Yeah, it'll be 1.32.9 for him last time around.
00:43:23Roland at 1.13.5.
00:43:25So significant difference in the lap times.
00:43:27And he's taken a big chunk out of him just last time around.
00:43:30As De Vries goes in for his final attack mode deployment.
00:43:34Dennis behind has still got one remaining.
00:43:38So four minutes then for De Vries.
00:43:40And he should be able to, in theory, power away from him.
00:43:42So this has been quite detrimental to Taylor Barnard's race victory opportunities.
00:43:46All of the mumbo-jumbling up of the order, I should say, in this race following the full-course yellows and the pit boost.
00:43:54Watch Roland. Roland is all over the back of Cassidy.
00:43:56I think Cassidy's now got the message that he'll 8-9% down on energy.
00:44:01As Beckman's on the investigation for a pit boost infringement.
00:44:04So Roland now, he's there, isn't he?
00:44:06He's within a second of Cassidy.
00:44:08In fact, he's gotten ahead of Cassidy, I think.
00:44:09Yes.
00:44:11Down at the chicane.
00:44:12So Oliver Roland now up in the second place.
00:44:15And only 3 seconds.
00:44:16So it's less than half the deficit.
00:44:18Or more than half the deficit to Nico Muller in the lead.
00:44:22Yes.
00:44:23Well, one thing for Roland, for De Vries, Dennis, Barnard, etc.
00:44:27All of them are close behind.
00:44:29De Vries, Roland, 5 seconds.
00:44:31We need to stay 2.5 seconds ahead of Roland.
00:44:36And we will concatenate that.
00:44:37Currently 4.3 with Roland.
00:44:394.3 with Roland.
00:44:43De Vries looking to the outside of Cassidy.
00:44:45Into Saint-Denis.
00:44:46Can't get his way through there.
00:44:47But he's got better traction and a lot more power up the hill.
00:44:49This will be easy pickings then for De Vries as he elevates himself up into the podium places.
00:44:54But the problem is Muller surely is going to be vulnerable here at the end of the race.
00:44:58He goes into attack mode then for this final deployment of 4 minutes.
00:45:02He's now going to have a pace advantage over Oliver Roland.
00:45:05But has he got enough energy left to be able to run the rest of this race flat out?
00:45:09Or is he going to have to back off?
00:45:10Roland knows that.
00:45:11He's just got to keep on the rear wing of Andretti to keep within distance and a chance of victory.
00:45:18I think Muller is going to be relatively okay on energy actually.
00:45:21Because when that last traffic came up, he'd done a couple of laps.
00:45:24That's all you need.
00:45:25These cars are incredibly good at recharging the battery.
00:45:29If you do just a couple of slow laps, which he's done.
00:45:31I think this is now a straight fight in terms of pace and attack modes.
00:45:37Roland's kept one attack mode in the back.
00:45:39Look around him.
00:45:40He's got De Vries in attack mode behind.
00:45:42Muller in attack mode in front.
00:45:44And Roland's just sitting there because there's another 5 cars from 5th down to 9th all in attack mode.
00:45:50Muller there out of shape into the chicane.
00:45:52It allows Roland to close up De Vries there in the background.
00:45:55He's in attack mode.
00:45:56So Roland's the meat of the sandwich here.
00:45:58And he's just going to try and keep himself ahead of the Mahindra.
00:46:01Whilst he's got 2 wheel drive and 50 kilowatts less power underneath his right foot.
00:46:06Across the time line we go.
00:46:08Cassidy's going to be under threat from Dennis Merlin and Barnard.
00:46:10All of whom are in attack mode.
00:46:12And we know that Cassidy has over consumed his energy.
00:46:15So he's going to have to back off.
00:46:16So we'll be out of a fight for victory in this race.
00:46:20Up the top of the hill we go.
00:46:21Muller it is that still leads.
00:46:23Now De Vries into 2nd at the expense of Oliver Roland.
00:46:26Yeah, Roland's going to lose the places right now.
00:46:29But then when he gets to his final attack mode.
00:46:31Will be exactly that.
00:46:33He'll be the attacker.
00:46:34They'll all be spent.
00:46:35But the risk though is if he does that.
00:46:36Then you get a safety car.
00:46:37You get a red flag like we had in Miami.
00:46:40Probably here in Monaco.
00:46:42You might not be able to use all of that attack mode to the end.
00:46:44Look at Barnard there on the outside of Verline.
00:46:46Side by side they go.
00:46:47It's a game contact.
00:46:48And Barnard into the barrier.
00:46:50Taylor Barnard the pole sitter.
00:46:52Looks to be out of this race.
00:46:54I think he's reversing.
00:46:55Yeah, we need to see that.
00:46:56Let's see.
00:46:57He's trying to.
00:46:58He's trying to get out of it.
00:46:59There we go.
00:47:00Well, as you were just saying about safety car.
00:47:03That's the risk, isn't it?
00:47:04That Nissan Affleck as De Vries goes.
00:47:07Ground it.
00:47:08Oh.
00:47:09That's his stick.
00:47:10He's into the lead.
00:47:11It's Nick De Vries then here.
00:47:12So he's got 17 seconds of attack mode remaining.
00:47:14Muller is in the pound seat.
00:47:16And Dennis as well coming through.
00:47:18So I wonder.
00:47:19Could we see the two Andrettis possibly trying to work together here?
00:47:21They've got relatively similar amounts of attack mode remaining.
00:47:24And will we see the two teammates working in unison in the closing stages of this race?
00:47:30I think Roland needs to go for attack fairly soon.
00:47:33Because everyone's getting a bit more feisty, aren't they?
00:47:38And you could end up with that safety car scenario you were talking about.
00:47:41Sorry, Corinna.
00:47:42He's lucky as well because he's got Cassidy behind him.
00:47:44He's having to lift off as the two Andrettis change places down the start-finish straight.
00:47:48But Cassidy's creating a nice buffer there.
00:47:51And Mortara there now.
00:47:52Yeah.
00:47:53Mortara's just gone through, hasn't he?
00:47:54But Cassidy's creating a nice gap there for Roland.
00:47:56That looked like a team agreement.
00:47:57Because they're both in attack modes.
00:47:58And Dennis was able to overtake very easily.
00:48:01Both cars ahead one more lap.
00:48:02Upday on incident.
00:48:03Upday on incident.
00:48:04Track clear.
00:48:05Let's open the gap and go.
00:48:06Track clear.
00:48:08So, Roland then does go for his final attack mode deployments.
00:48:12Yeah, but he's dropped behind Mortara.
00:48:14That was not ideal for him.
00:48:15Because Mortara's still got another 46 seconds to go.
00:48:19And that's not ideal for Roland.
00:48:22Because he needs to get through this pack if he wants to win this race.
00:48:25But Dennis.
00:48:26This is Dennis' opportunity down in the chicane, Tom.
00:48:29Here we go then.
00:48:30On board we ride with Victor Brees.
00:48:32And he sniffs an opportunity of victory for the first time.
00:48:35In over 12 months down into the chicane we go.
00:48:37De Vries parking the car on the apex.
00:48:39Defending with every ounce of talent and experience that he has.
00:48:42Mahindra having a great race.
00:48:43And he pushes Dennis to the inside as we come into Tabac.
00:48:47And Dennis has to back out of a potential overtake.
00:48:49Into that left-hander.
00:48:51De Vries a bit of a sitting duck.
00:48:52Because he has got two-wheel drive compared to the four-wheel drive of Dennis.
00:48:56But he's coming to the end of that deployment now.
00:48:58And we're heading towards Rascasse.
00:49:00Dennis surely is going to have to try and find his way through.
00:49:03He's out of attack mode.
00:49:04So this is...
00:49:05Yeah, he's got no more attack mode to go.
00:49:08Now this is a straight fight in terms of power and drive.
00:49:11Can Dennis still make the move?
00:49:13Roland's coming.
00:49:14Watch Roland up into third.
00:49:15Yeah, this is going to be well for Oliver Roland.
00:49:16He's pulled this one out of the bag.
00:49:18Four laps to go then here at Monaco.
00:49:19And it's anybody's guess as to who is going to be the victor.
00:49:22We come up the hill.
00:49:23And Oliver Roland muscles his way through on the Andretti.
00:49:26And goes into second place.
00:49:28Brilliant stuff from Oliver Roland.
00:49:29The strategy so far is working out perfectly for the Briton.
00:49:32Yeah, and he's still got two and a half minutes.
00:49:34So he will get two laps basically.
00:49:37Nearly two laps of attack mode.
00:49:39He can just be patient.
00:49:40He can pick his moment to get past De Vries.
00:49:43And then just save the energy to the flag.
00:49:46We still are waiting for confirmation.
00:49:48But we think there'll be one added lap based on the time we've had of full-course yellows.
00:49:52But yeah, watch Roland now.
00:49:54Coming through into Portier.
00:49:56Out of Portier.
00:49:57Into the tunnel.
00:49:58This is it.
00:49:59We're looking back from Nick De Vries.
00:50:00And watch Roland.
00:50:0150 kilowatts more power.
00:50:03Four-wheel drive.
00:50:04Does he make the move?
00:50:05He's going to go for it then.
00:50:06And nothing that Nick De Vries can do.
00:50:08On the outside goes Oliver Roland into the Nouvelle Chicane.
00:50:12And up through into the race lead.
00:50:14He's got enough amount of energy left as well.
00:50:16Nico to get his elbows out.
00:50:18Yeah, copy.
00:50:21And that's what we were saying about the Andrettis.
00:50:23Are they going to be able to work together?
00:50:24They're sort of falling out of distance at the moment.
00:50:27Muller's got a little bit more energy compared to Dennis.
00:50:29But I don't know if it's going to matter too much.
00:50:31Yeah, but they've not played the game well there at Andretti.
00:50:33Because Muller was way down on energy.
00:50:35Ah, Dennis.
00:50:36Five-second time penalty for over-speeding under a safety car.
00:50:39Sorry, under the full-course yellow that we saw earlier on.
00:50:42I don't know if that was on that restart.
00:50:44It might have been somewhere else.
00:50:45Because the restart looked okay to me.
00:50:47But it might have been somewhere else.
00:50:50Anyway, five seconds.
00:50:51That's going to take him off the podium, isn't it?
00:50:53Because that'll now drop him from where he is now into seventh place.
00:50:58Yeah, it's quite a detriment there for Jake Dennis.
00:51:01What a shame for his race to come undone.
00:51:03And what he's going to have to do is get Nico to get his elbows out.
00:51:07As he was saying on the team radio a few moments ago,
00:51:09create a gap back and try to salvage a result for that team.
00:51:13But I don't know if there's anything that Nico is going to be able to do.
00:51:16The thing he can hope for is that Mortara and Verlai behind him
00:51:19are going to stop squabbling amongst one another
00:51:21and keep the German driver, Indy Andretti, out of it.
00:51:24Yeah, exactly that. That's what they need, isn't it?
00:51:26They need Muller to go as slow as possible
00:51:29to just open up the gap and just give Dennis as big a margin as they can.
00:51:34Because I don't think it'll end up in five seconds
00:51:37unless Muller's, I don't know, magically hit the button and widen the car twice as much.
00:51:42So down in towards the chicane we go.
00:51:44Dennis, this is an opportunity of second place on the road.
00:51:47But will it be second place once the chequered flag falls?
00:51:49One added lap then in this race from 29 up to 30.
00:51:53And what a dramatic conclusion it is turning out to be.
00:51:56And once again, in all of the drama that has unfolded,
00:51:59Oliver Roland is pulling it out of the bag in the Nissan.
00:52:02He is coming to the end of his attack mode deployment,
00:52:05but he's managed to cycle his way through.
00:52:06And he's now got a 2.1 second buffer over the two behind of De Vries and Dennis.
00:52:12This is working out handsomely so far for Oliver Roland
00:52:15as he seeks his second victory on the streets of Monte Carlo.
00:52:18So Dennis now, with a gap that's opened up,
00:52:21will drop into sixth place between Wehrlein and Gunther.
00:52:25So, we'll see.
00:52:27So, three laps to go.
00:52:28You can reduce the duty cycle of the gearbox
00:52:31so you manage the gap behind, you have the same suck.
00:52:34Three laps.
00:52:38It's a nice message to have on team radio
00:52:39that you can take it easy on the gearbox
00:52:41if you've got enough of a gap in your pocket to be able to do so.
00:52:44Not often you hear team radio messages like that in Formula 8.
00:52:48So, Mahindra ending up with a good haul of points here.
00:52:50They should get second and fourth once Dennis' penalties apply.
00:52:53And we'll see.
00:52:55But Muller, look, Muller's still holding up the pack there.
00:52:57He's still...
00:52:58I'm sure they've sent a message out on the radio
00:53:00for him to keep holding up the pack.
00:53:02Yeah, Muller, as you said, having to make that Andretti as wide as he possibly can
00:53:06with two and a half laps remaining.
00:53:09Incidentally, for Nick De Vries,
00:53:10this would be his first podium since London 2022.
00:53:14A long time ago, back in the Gen 2 era,
00:53:16as he looks...
00:53:17Mortara, I should say rather,
00:53:19looks to the inside of Muller,
00:53:21briefly down into the Nouvelle Chicane,
00:53:23but can't find his way through at the moment.
00:53:25Wehrlein's sort of in no-man's land here.
00:53:26He's on the back of the Mahindra,
00:53:28but just can't seem to find his way through
00:53:30as they head in towards the swimming pool section.
00:53:34And again, Mortara just parking that car exactly where
00:53:37Wehrlein doesn't want him to at the moment.
00:53:40Coming into this race,
00:53:41Wehrlein was up to third in the championship
00:53:43courtesy of the victory
00:53:46last time out in Miami.
00:53:49And he'll be taking some points home,
00:53:51but not as much as Oliver Rowland,
00:53:53as well as Nico Muller and the like in front as well.
00:53:57So two laps now then to go here in Monte Carlo.
00:54:00And Rowland stabilizes the gap at the front
00:54:02up to 1.6 seconds.
00:54:04De Vries in second still.
00:54:06Dennis with that five-second penalty.
00:54:07And Muller, again, playing the team game perfectly for Andretti,
00:54:11making that car as difficult to pass as he possibly can.
00:54:14And he's increased the gap up to about 4.5 seconds.
00:54:17And, well, he'll be trying to do just that
00:54:19for the remainder of this race,
00:54:21to keep Dennis in that final spot on the podium.
00:54:25Through Mirabeau we go.
00:54:26Nose tail here between third, fourth, and fifth.
00:54:29Gupta's having a good run of this one, by the way.
00:54:30He's up into seventh from tenth on the grid.
00:54:33Ticktum, I think he'll see this as a missed opportunity
00:54:35given his pace in qualifying here today in Monaco.
00:54:38Down in eighth place.
00:54:39A couple of points it'll be for the British driver
00:54:42if it falls as it is now.
00:54:44Muller's opened up and it's crucial now.
00:54:45Five seconds.
00:54:46It's gone over.
00:54:47It's 5.2 and Mortara's having his next up.
00:54:51Muller's done a fantastic job for the team
00:54:54by holding up that five-second gap.
00:54:56Gap 5.2. De Vries playing the same game with Mortara.
00:55:00Yeah, working quite nicely then here
00:55:04for Jake Dennis to keep that final podium place.
00:55:08And that's the beauty of having two cars
00:55:10in this Noah's Ark formation.
00:55:12We saw it last year here, if you remember, with Jaguar
00:55:14when they took a one-two finish
00:55:16as we come to begin the final lap of racing here
00:55:19in Monaco.
00:55:21Last year, it was Jaguar who used Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans perfectly.
00:55:26They played the team game brilliantly,
00:55:27held the rest of the pack up so the other could take attack mode.
00:55:29And that was how it finished at the end of that one.
00:55:32And a similar story for the two Andrettis
00:55:34using team tactics to perfection.
00:55:37And this will be the longest lap of Tommaso Volpe's life
00:55:40in that Nissan garage at the moment.
00:55:43Yeah, I mean, when your driver tells you the opening lap of the race
00:55:47that he thinks is a reliability problem,
00:55:49that's a nervous, nervous time for all of these people in that Nissan pit garage.
00:55:55But, fingers crossed, he's got half a lap to go now
00:55:58as he turns into the tunnel.
00:56:01This has been a fantastic start to the season so far for Oliver Oland.
00:56:05And he's half a lap away, Tom, from adding another victory.
00:56:10Yes, coming down into the closing stages of this one.
00:56:13And unless lightning strikes twice...
00:56:15The final lap, mate. Bring it home.
00:56:20...to bring it home in second place.
00:56:22And this will be a very welcome result,
00:56:23not only for Nick de Vries, but also for Mahindra as well.
00:56:26We come through into the final sector.
00:56:29Oliver Oland, what a performance it has been.
00:56:32He's taken a podium in Monaco back in 2019,
00:56:35but he's never been on the top step.
00:56:37He has just one more corner to go here on the streets of Monte Carlo.
00:56:42As he rounds, as he knows, comes out of the final corner
00:56:45to cross the time line and take his third victory of the season.
00:56:48Oliver Oland wins the Monaco E-Prix
00:56:51ahead of Nick de Vries for Mahindra,
00:56:53taking his first podium since 2022 and Mahindra's first since 2023.
00:56:57Dennis holds on to third place at the chequered flag as well.
00:57:01Mortara Mugsmuller on the timing line at the end of that race
00:57:06as the rest of the field come over and take the chequered flag.
00:57:09Roger Griffiths absolutely delighted for the Andretti team
00:57:14to hold on to that final podium.
00:57:16Good job, guys.
00:57:18That's how we do it.
00:57:22So, Oliver Oland takes his first victory
00:57:27in the Principality of Monaco.
00:57:29What a race that was.
00:57:31Absolutely superb.
00:57:35Let's try and talk to him, Tom.
00:57:40Oliver Oland is covering up in the commentary box
00:57:43as your engineer tells you to head to the podium and the royal box.
00:57:47Congratulations.
00:57:49We heard you talking about some noises.
00:57:51How nervous were you through that race?
00:58:13You're once again proving to be the tactical master.
00:58:15How did the strategy work out for you
00:58:17early attack mode unlike the others?
00:58:19Did it work out the way you hoped?
00:58:38You're a Monaco winner here in Formula E.
00:58:40Enjoy the podium.
00:58:42Amazing job from Oliver Oland.
00:58:44His first victory on the streets of Monte Carlo.
00:58:48Fantastic result.
00:58:50As Karun said, a tactical masterclass.
00:58:52We just saw one of the loners coming to a stop
00:58:54at the end of that race.
00:58:57Oliver Oland with his second ever win around here.
00:59:02Of course, one in Formula 2 way back in 2017.
00:59:07But his first win when it comes to a world championship event.
00:59:12This, of course, takes the crown in terms of that resume.
00:59:19Oliver Oland, his first win around the principality in Formula E.
00:59:25And he will remember today.
00:59:28And you can just see what it means to him
00:59:30as he slowly soaks in the emotions
00:59:35and the achievement.
00:59:38And then he'll jump out of the car
00:59:41and celebrate with all those around him.
00:59:44Oliver Oland, a Nissan win here in Monaco
00:59:48with a fantastic result for Mahindra,
00:59:52the Indian manufacturer.
00:59:54Nick de Vries, second.
00:59:56And, of course, Jake Dennis with Andretti
01:00:00making it three different packages.
01:00:05Power trains on the rostrum here.
01:00:07Andretti powered by Porsche.
01:00:09Nick de Vries across to congratulate Oliver Oland
01:00:14who jumps out of the car.
01:00:16No one else has won more than one race in season 11.
01:00:21Oliver Oland has now won three
01:00:24and extends his championship lead.
01:00:27And he will be brimming with confidence
01:00:30heading into tomorrow's set of events.
01:00:40Of course, qualifying and the race still to come tomorrow.
01:00:45This only 50% of what is a doubleheader weekend
01:00:50here in Monte Carlo.
01:01:01Jake Dennis talking to his countryman Oliver Oland there.
01:01:06Nick de Vries now joining in on affairs.
01:01:31So Jake Dennis, highest driver in the championship
01:01:35without a podium finish this season.
01:01:38Heading into the day, he has that podium finish now.
01:01:57When you come to spray the bubbly,
01:01:59don't point it to the important people.
01:02:04Jake Dennis there just getting a reminder of the
01:02:08very different podium that we have here
01:02:12in the principality of course.
01:02:14Royalty up there don't want to be soaked with champagne
01:02:19which is sometimes the case in other race weekends.
01:02:26Nick de Vries, best finisher, fourth
01:02:28before today's first podium of the season.
01:02:32And the race winner, your first victory
01:02:34around the streets of Monte Carlo.
01:02:36Once again, you're the master of the strategy.
01:02:39Put us in the cockpit.
01:02:41Yeah, I mean, you never know what to do,
01:02:43especially with these pit boost races.
01:02:44It's the second race, but we kind of had a plan.
01:02:46We stuck to it.
01:02:47It was a bit trickier to pass Taylor than I thought,
01:02:49to be honest.
01:02:50But no, look, we kept calm.
01:02:52Even at the end, I was pretty worried
01:02:54during that second attack mode.
01:02:55I dropped back to fifth and I was behind two Mahindras
01:02:57and I was like, right now we need to get cracking.
01:02:59But yeah, great job by the team and very well executed.
01:03:02Well, you said it was difficult to get past Taylor.
01:03:04He used to be on your car team.
01:03:06You must have taught him too well.
01:03:08Yeah, a little bit.
01:03:09I was a little bit thinking, you know,
01:03:11he's pushing the boundaries of the rules at some point.
01:03:13But yeah, fair play to him.
01:03:15I mean, in the end we got the job done,
01:03:16so it doesn't really matter.
01:03:18So this is race one.
01:03:20Tomorrow you come back and do it all again.
01:03:21But you've maintained and extended your lead
01:03:23in this championship.
01:03:24Yeah, absolutely.
01:03:25That's key.
01:03:26You know, we've started the season really, really well.
01:03:29But it feels a bit different now.
01:03:30Normally you would be looking forward to the champagne,
01:03:32but you already got one eye on tomorrow.
01:03:34Yeah, no champagne until tomorrow.
01:03:36Congratulations.
01:03:37Thank you very much.
01:03:39Yeah, you always want to celebrate
01:03:41when you win around Monte Carlo.
01:03:43But not today because it will be straight back
01:03:46to the debrief, the number crunch,
01:03:48and all eyes on tomorrow's affair
01:03:52and see if they can't double up.
01:03:57Yeah!
01:04:00That's what it means to Nissan E-DAMS team.
01:04:07Victor Vries, welcome back to the podium.
01:04:09It's been a while for the team.
01:04:11And for myself.
01:04:13I didn't know it away, but yeah,
01:04:15it's been an incredible day for us as a team.
01:04:17Honestly, I can't thank them enough.
01:04:19They executed a great race during the pit boost
01:04:22and choosing the right moments to go for it
01:04:24and take the attack.
01:04:25So, honestly, a big thanks to them.
01:04:27And just very nice to be on this journey together.
01:04:30We came from far last year
01:04:31and we constantly make little steps.
01:04:33And it's nice to give them this reward
01:04:35because they really deserve it.
01:04:37Every race has its unique challenges.
01:04:39Monaco maybe more than many.
01:04:42What was the most challenging element
01:04:44of that race for you?
01:04:45I consider it as an advantage being at home,
01:04:48having my friends here and watching me.
01:04:50It's just nice to have them here
01:04:52and see what we accomplished today.
01:04:54Congratulations on the podium.
01:04:58First podium of his season 11 campaign.
01:05:04First for Mahindra as well.
01:05:07They're building nicely.
01:05:09Of course, Nick de Vries knows
01:05:10what it takes to win a championship.
01:05:13Thank you, guys.
01:05:14Thank you, guys.
01:05:16Very, very well executed.
01:05:18Thank you for being on it
01:05:20during the attack modes and boost charge.
01:05:23Well deserved, my friend.
01:05:27Sharing the success out to all of those team members
01:05:32who make it work.
01:05:33This is a very strategic day
01:05:36for the drivers and teams.
01:05:41So, Jake, great podium,
01:05:43great piece of team strategy there.
01:05:45You got that penalty at the restart.
01:05:48We saw the replay.
01:05:49It was incredibly close.
01:05:51How did you feel at the time?
01:05:53Pretty stressed.
01:05:54I knew it was going to be pretty close
01:05:56with the FCY.
01:05:59Sure enough, when the penalty came,
01:06:01I took on the chin.
01:06:02Obviously, I had to have a bit of help from Nico.
01:06:04Ultimately, the pace was strong enough
01:06:06to create the gap.
01:06:08It was such a tough race.
01:06:10Mentally, so many different strategies going on.
01:06:12I honestly felt like we did most things perfect.
01:06:16It was obviously just a pit boost situation.
01:06:19Obviously, having to use the spare
01:06:21and then losing around about one or two seconds with that
01:06:24and then we dropped too far back.
01:06:25But the car was being quick all day today
01:06:27and the boys really gave me a rocket ship
01:06:29to be able to fight back through
01:06:30and get my first podium of the season.
01:06:32It's been so long since Mazzano in season 10
01:06:35and to repay them with a Monaco podium is always special.
01:06:38So you're used to stressful races,
01:06:40but you said there was a lot going on in that one.
01:06:42What was the point where you started to feel
01:06:44this isn't quite playing out the way
01:06:46we may have thought it would?
01:06:49I think it was on the first attack
01:06:53when we said not to take it.
01:06:55I probably should have taken it then, I think.
01:06:57But ultimately, it was a call which ended up
01:07:00paying in our favor in the long run
01:07:02and we got the position back.
01:07:04Just having that pit boost situation
01:07:06made our life a lot more difficult.
01:07:08We should have been well ahead of Nick
