Ryan Roberts breaks down the commitment of 2026 four-star running back Jonaz Walton to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish!
Transcript
00:00Notre Dame recruiting is on fire in the 2026 class.
00:03Jones, Walton, star running back out of Georgia, commits to the Irish,
00:07creating maybe the best running back duo in a long, long time.
00:12Let's talk about it.
00:16Ryan Roberts from A to Z Sports, breaking down everything Notre Dame football.
00:20Folks, if you haven't been watching,
00:22Notre Dame is on a crazy recruiting tear in the 2026 class.
00:27They just got another one, 2026, Carrollton, Georgia,
00:32Central High School, running back.
00:34Jones, Walton has committed to the fighting Irish,
00:37beating a long, long, long, long offer list.
00:39That includes the likes of Alabama and Georgia, 5'9", 205 pounds,
00:4510'6", in the 100 meters.
00:47And now you get to combine him with Javion Osborne,
00:50who is very stylistically different,
00:52which I think makes this duo a potentially imposing one
00:56on the next level.
00:57Just bringing down Walton for a second.
00:59Over 1,300 yards as a junior in 2024.
01:03Over 600 receiving yards.
01:04Also average over 38 yards per kickoff return.
01:07He's more of a straight line, downhill runner with a ton of speed,
01:11which is a great pairing with Osborne,
01:13because Osborne is much more of your cat quick,
01:16lateral, explosive, jump cut type of back.
01:19Those two are going to work wonders off of one another,
01:22become a dynamic two-man punch for Notre Dame
01:25in the running back room for the foreseeable future.
01:29Now Walton, who I think is, I'll describe as a bowling ball of a runner.
01:34I think that this, again, continues this chain reaction
01:37that we're going to go see over the next couple weeks.
01:40Notre Dame recruiting is far from done.
01:42Tiki Hola, you got recently.
01:44Jacoby Clapper, Rodney Dunham, Ebenezer Ewutade.
01:48It is only going to continue into the future,
01:51and Jones Walton is just the latest huge recruiting win
01:54for running back coach Jawan Sider since coming over from Penn State.
02:00Folks, if you haven't seen this young man on film,
02:03I ask you, please, just go do it.
02:05Not only is he dominating in the state of Georgia,
02:06which is huge for Notre Dame,
02:08another conversation point to this is that Notre Dame has been wanting
02:11to be more effective and consistent in recruiting the state of Georgia.
02:16There is a competition out there.
02:18What is the better state in developing great recruits?
02:21Usually names that we come up with are Texas, Florida, California to a degree,
02:26but Georgia over the last few years per capita has been fantastic
02:29when developing great recruits and great college football players.
02:34I think Jones Walton is just the latest.
02:35This one is a testament to Coach Sider because when Notre Dame first hired him
02:41after Dillon McCullough left for the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason,
02:44I would say they were running probably second, third,
02:48somewhere in that ballpark for Javion Osborne, the star running back out of Texas.
02:51They were in a probably arguably better position with Jones Walton,
02:55but a lot of closing had to be done here.
02:57This was not an easy recruitment for Jawan Sider,
03:00and he honestly could have come in and he could have bungled this one a little bit,
03:04and you could have went 0 for 2 on the top targets on the board for Notre Dame.
03:08We knew that these were the guys that Notre Dame really wanted,
03:11and hats off to Coach Sider.
03:12He got the job done.
03:14After we finish watching the huddle highlights, come back to this YouTube channel.
