00:00Hi Miss Australia. Hello, how are you? I'm good, how about you? Great, thank you. You like here? Yes, I'm having the most incredible time here in Hyderabad. We have seen so much already and I'm so excited for what the next few weeks have in store for us.
00:27So you are a singer. Have you been here in Hyderabad or Telangana or India before? I've never been here to India before. This is my first visit here. So you are a singer, right? Yes, I am. So what kind of songs you sing? You are a singer for movies or you do your own albums? Well, I perform in a show in Australia called the Australian Outback Spectacular. So it's a mix of singing and horse riding, which is very unique and we perform a mix of ballads and country music as well.
00:56So then you know horse riding also? Yes. At what age you started riding a horse? I started horse riding at five years old and I did a lesson at the local riding school every Sunday morning for eight years before I finally got my very own horse when I was 14.
01:11Oh, that's great actually. Very few people know about horse riding. It's very, very unique sport and I'm very blessed and lucky to have the opportunity to do it.
01:20In the event, Miss World event also having a sports event, right? Yes. Is there any horse riding like that? Well, it's a shame really because I wasn't able to bring my horse with me here to India.
01:32You can get a horse here. Maybe I can borrow one but no, the sports challenge here in India I believe will be more of cardio, team sports, games like hockey, maybe some cricket, who knows?
01:43Oh. So you know cricket? You play? Of course, I know cricket. We're from Australia and I think that's something we have in common is Australia and India have a love for cricket.
01:53Yes. But you play cricket? No. No. I love watching cricket. However, I wouldn't say that I'm a very typically great cricket player.
02:02So then who is your most favourite cricket person from Australia?
02:06Oh, from Australia? I'd have to say David Warner. I hear that he has a love for Hyderabad.
02:12Yes, yes. He'll do so many reels also. He loves movies actually.
02:15Yes. Okay. Amazing.
02:17So you're a singer. Can you please sing a song for us?
02:19Right now?
02:20Yes.
02:21What would you like me to sing?
02:23Whichever you want.
02:24Okay.
02:24Because every night I lie in bed The brightest colours fill my head A million dreams are keeping me awake
02:36I dream of what I couldn't be A vision of the ones I've seen
02:42A million dreams is all it's gonna take A million dreams for the world we're gonna make
02:50So for a singer, keeping their throat clean is very important. So how do you keep your throat? How do you take care of it?
02:59Well, I think it's just overall health is really important, especially during our busy schedule here at the 72nd Miss World Festival.
03:06So ensuring that I'm eating very good, healthy, nutritious food, lots of water, taking my vitamins, all of those things that are important for your general health and well-being.
03:15So what kind of food do you really love? You love ice creams or chocolates much? Or you have tooth, sweet tooth or you love more spices?
03:23I'm a bit more of a sweet tooth, but I will have to say I've been trying some spicy food here in India. I've tried the spicy biryani. That was delicious.
03:32I also had halim the other night for the first time, which I really enjoyed.
03:37Halim is a special dish during the Ramzan time.
03:40Okay, beautiful.
03:41Yeah. So you tried any sweets here because Hyderabad is famous for sweets also.
03:47Well, I did. And you'll have to let me know what the name of this sweet is.
03:50But it was like a little puff and you got some liquid and you poured the liquid into the puff. Do you know what that's called?
03:56Is it sweet one?
03:57Sweet.
03:58Oh, which you don't know.
03:59You don't know the name? Nor do I. But it was absolutely yummy.
04:03Okay. So you are doing your professional career and you are into the beauty pageants.
04:11Yes.
04:12At Waters you started coming into the beauty pageants. Who is your inspiration?
04:17I started pageants back when I was 16 and that's when I really set out on this goal to represent Australia at Miss World.
04:23And I was crowned in August of 2023 and I've been inspired by the former title holders of Australia.
04:30We've had some incredible Australian women who have come before me and also some incredible Miss World title holders.
04:35And it would be such an honour to continue on with their legacy.
04:38You know, how was the journey from 16 years when you started your career into beauty pageants and now you are on the stage of Miss World.
04:49So how was the journey? Is there any hurt situations or is everything smooth and like flower bed?
04:55Well, no, I think like many things in life, it wasn't all smooth sailing.
04:58However, it's such a bigger reward being here and standing on the Miss World stage because it's proof that 10 years of perseverance has really paid off.
05:07And it wasn't something that happened overnight for me.
05:10You know, I've been working towards this goal for such a long time.
05:12So to be here is absolutely surreal.
05:15So finally, what is the purpose of your beauty?
05:19My beauty with a purpose is domestic violence prevention and awareness.
05:23I think it's important that we focus on prevention.
05:26It is extremely powerful and change, real change begins with our younger generation.
05:31So what I want to do is get programs into schools.
05:34I've also written a children's book that focuses on encouraging healthy relationships from a really young age because education is our most powerful weapon against so many social issues.
05:44And I have the opportunity to not only represent this in Australia, but now to a global audience.
05:49So here in India, most of the times, women don't want to discuss about domestic violence more outside.
05:56Because they think it is a family pride.
05:58So what the message you want to give for the women who are suffering with these kind of domestic violences?
06:04I would like to give the message that you are worthy of safety.
06:08Everyone has the right to a life of safety.
06:10And it's our job as a society to ensure that we help to progress society, help to make sure that every person does feel safe.
06:17And it's not something that will happen overnight.
06:19But I think my message is probably more to the men, to the men who are the perpetrators of violence.
06:24We need to get in and intervene at an early age.
06:26We need to educate them on healthy relationships and know that violence is just not part of this world.
06:32It shouldn't be.
06:33Thank you so much.
06:35Namaskaram.
06:36Namaste.
06:36You learn Telugu?
06:37No, not yet.
06:38No.
06:39Did you say Namaskaram?
06:40Namaskaram.
06:41Namaskaram.
06:42Is that Telugu's version of Namaste?
06:44Yes.
06:45Namaskaram.
06:46You learn something new every day.
06:48Yeah.
06:49So, this is Ms. Australia's announcement.
06:53Camera person Ramana Mahishu.
