00:12Maga Trump Flyover
00:14Who would have thought Donald Trump and the Egyptura flyover would end up in the same sentence?
00:19But when the US President made the headlines for announcing a ceasefire between India and Pakistan
00:23on 10th May 2025, a Bangalore saw an opportunity.
00:27In a post that quickly went viral, the user tagged Trump and made an unusual request
00:31to mediate between Bengaluru's civic bodies.
00:34He asked Trump to solve a problem that even local authorities hadn't been able to fix,
00:38the completion of the infamous Egyptura flyover.
00:42He urged Trump to intervene with the BBMP and get the flyover completed.
00:46He also asked him to speak to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited
00:49to speed up the Yellow Line of the Nama Metro.
00:52And then came up a follow-up post,
00:53Stopping the India-Pakistan war is not such a big deal, the user wrote.
00:57If he wants to prove that he's a strong negotiator and global leader,
01:00let him do this open challenge.
01:03The post struck a chord, other Bangaloreans joined in mixing humour with frustration.
01:08What began as a joke reflected a deeper civic issue.
01:11Bangalore had had enough of infrastructure delays.
01:13The Egyptura flyover has been a sore point for years.
01:16It was supposed to be a 2.5km connector between Koramangla's Kendriya Sadat
01:21and Egyptura via the Inner Ring Road.
01:23Construction started in 2017, but the progress stalled in 2019 when the contractor went bankrupt.
01:29The project, worth Rs. 204 crores, was originally meant to finish by the end of 2019.
01:35But delays in land acquisition pushed deadlines again and again.
01:38In January 2025, the authorities revised the target to December 2025.
01:43Similarly, the yellow line of the Nama Metro connecting RV Road to Bomasandra had also missed
01:48several deadlines.
01:49As the weight dragged on, the city's patience wore thin.
01:52The stalled Egyptura flyover became the punchline, a mean-worthy symbol of civic apathy.
